UPDATE (26/01): HITMAN World of Assassination Launch Trailer

As of 26 January 2023, the following changes are planned to come into effect.

  • HITMAN 3 will become ‘HITMAN World of Assassination’, which will also include access to HITMAN 1 and HITMAN 2 through our existing Access Pass system. Current HITMAN 3 owners will get a free upgrade to HITMAN World of Assassination on all platforms
  • We’re drastically simplifying the purchase experience for new players. HITMAN World of Assassination will be the single available option to start playing.

Essentially, these two changes will mean that all new players and existing HITMAN 3 owners will have the same base content ownership. There will be no more confusion over which edition to buy, what content you own, how to redeem Legacy packs or import locations, etc. We’re done with that.

Let’s break it down. We’re streamlining the (many) offerings currently on the stores down to two products. These will replace existing ways to buy HITMAN 1, HITMAN 2 or HITMAN 3.

HITMAN – World of Assassination (approx. $70 USD or local equivalent)
Includes: HITMAN 3, plus H1 GOTY Access Pass and H2 Standard Access Pass.

HITMAN – World of Assassination Deluxe Pack (approx. $30 USD or local equivalent)
Includes: H3 Deluxe Pack, H3 Seven Deadly Sins Collection and H2 Expansion Access Pass.

That’s it. Those are the only two products that new players need to consider when buying any HITMAN game digitally as of January 26, 2023.

… we know many of you own certain games or DLCs but not others, and we don’t want to force anyone to (re)buy what they already own. We think that’s a good enough reason to still have a few options – but these options won’t be front and centre for new players. The idea is to keep these details visible to those who might need them.

STEAM COMPLETE THE SET
On Steam, we are going to implement ‘complete the set’ functionality for the three DLC packs included in the HITMAN World of Assassination Deluxe Pack (H3 Deluxe Pack, H3 Seven Deadly Sins Collection and H2 Expansion Access Pass). This will mean you only pay an even split for whatever content you don’t own. For example, if you own 2 of the DLCs, you’ll only pay $10 for the remaining DLC, rather than having to pay full price for the full Deluxe Pack.

IN-GAME STORE
On other platforms, we’ve added each individual DLC from the new WoA Deluxe Pack (H3 Deluxe Pack, H3 Seven Deadly Sins Collection and H2 Expansion Access Pass) to the IN-GAME store, again priced with an even split ($10 USD each). If you own some (but not all) of that content, you’ll be able to buy whatever you’re missing – at a new and reduced price.

STOREFRONT CHANGES
An important detail that we want to be clear about amongst these changes, is that we’re removing the standalone HITMAN 1 and HITMAN 2 products from sale on all platforms. If you already own these games, you’ll still be able to access them in the exact same way that you do today. Of course, the majority of the content included in these games remains playable through HITMAN World of Assassination, with all of the improvements that were introduced with HITMAN 3.

On that note, and for extra clarity, HITMAN 3 will remain available in its current standalone form through the upcoming ‘HITMAN – World of Assassination’.

… For many players, it will mean free content to enjoy. For others, it will mean significantly cheaper DLC prices. For new players, who probably aren’t reading this here, they’ll have a much better experience buying HITMAN games.

The changes have also been made with the Freelancer game mode in mind, where being able to easily access all locations from across the World of Assassination is paramount to maximising your enjoyment.

At time of writing this deal post (Jan 4th), both of these HITMAN 3 Access Passes are still being sold on Steam, Epic Games Store, PlayStation Store, Xbox.com:

With this announcement, its best to AVOID purchasing these separate Access Passes, and focus on obtaining ownership of the HITMAN 3 (Standard Edition or Deluxe Edition) base game, before January 26th.

HITMAN Freelancer - You are in control "The key here, is that HITMAN: Freelancer puts the strategic planning of a mission into the hands of the player. The game mode relies on randomized elements, that are rolled independently of each other. The game mode gives the player all available information, but there’s no guarantee that an objective, for instance, is possible when on the mission. To succeed, it is up to the player to ensure that a payout objective is possible, by bringing the right gear, or choosing the right combination of location, brought gear and objectives. In that sense HITMAN: Freelancer is very different from the main game – there’s no hand-holding Mission Stories with scripted custom kills, that are always possible. Every iconic takedown in HITMAN: Freelancer is an emergent construct of systemic game mechanics and the foresight and creativity of the player."

HITMAN 3 Access Pass FAQ HITMAN 3 allows players to access locations from the previous games in the trilogy (H1 and H2) and play them all under one roof… For example, if you buy the HITMAN 2 Standard Access Pass DLC for HITMAN 3, you’ll get access to the locations and missions included in the HITMAN 2 Standard Edition within HITMAN 3. In addition to the option of purchasing an Access Pass, it is also possible to redeem/download an Access Pass for no additional cost, if you have already purchased that content on the same platform.
HITMAN Legacy Pack FAQ The HITMAN Legacy Pack will bring remastered and enhanced locations from HITMAN Season One to HITMAN 2, all living under one ever-expanding roof and building one World of Assassination. All six locations – Paris, Sapienza, Marrakesh, Bangkok, Colorado and Hokkaido – will be accessible as downloadable content (DLC) and will incorporate various new features from HITMAN 2. Eligible owners of HITMAN will have access to the HITMAN Legacy Pack at no additional cost.
HITMAN 3 (PC) Location Importing Guide PC (Epic): This guide and process is specifically intended for HITMAN 2 owners on Steam that want to import their locations into HITMAN 3 on Epic Games Store. If you want to import locations from HITMAN 2 on Steam to HITMAN 3 on Steam, you do not need to use this process.
HITMAN 3 Progression Carryover Carryover your progress from HITMAN 2 to HITMAN 3. All HITMAN 2 players have the option of performing a one-time carryover of their progression, allowing them to start HITMAN 3 with their existing profile, XP, suits, items and unlocks. THIS PROCESS DOES NOT IMPORT YOUR HITMAN 2 LOCATIONS. CHECK OUR PLAYER GUIDE FOR MORE DETAILS.

  • Good changes, and hopefully that means the H2 that I own through PS+ will be converted over to a proper license because I own H3.

    • It won't be converted but anyone who owns hitman 3 is getting access to all hitman 1 & 2 content including the DLCs totally free as part of the upgrade.

You can convert your ps+ hitman2 to hitman3 by downloading the free hitman2 standard access pass (free for existing owners of H2) under hitman 3 DLCs if you want to play it before the changeover.

    • +1

      Kewl
^ progression retained on PC Steam to EGS without content

      • The chart needs updating since you can get Hitman 3 on Steam now and the content transfers.

    • +6

Oh my god, that second graphic is….oh my god.

      How did we get here.

      • +7

It's holidays i can't be bothered with a presentation like that

    • So to confirm, on Steam I want to buy HITMAN 3 Standard Edition for $31.48 before Jan 26th, and there's no reason to really consider the other options/bundles or worry about getting previous titles?

  • +6

I love these games and abandoned the franchise entriely because their purchasing and progression pathway became the biggest dogs breakfast in gaming. Shocked they've fixed it after….5 years? More?

For instance, they had DLC in hitman 3 that could only be activated by buying hitman 2, and it's dlc. Which would then give you a "dlc pass" on the newer engine. This was all incredibly poorly explained, both outside and inside the games.

Edit: Sort of? The steam page hasn't changed yet. Go and see. It's still a confusing (profanity) of passes and dlc and they've already halved what it was. They've made this announcement while still flogging the dlc half price, hoping….what….people will get confused and buy up now? Before the change?

Being able to play through the games i remember on a new engine, then the new games, will have me dive back in for sure. Nostalgia trip.

    • Looking forward to having a new central place to complaindiscuss until the next overhaul remaster revamp

    • +2

It's been a nightmare situation for them given Hitman 1 was published by SE, Hitman 2 was published by Warner and Hitman 3 was after they became independent. Each of those publishers still retaining publishing rights to their specific game which makes linking those games and purchases together complicated.

The only thing anyone should be buying right now is the standalone Hitman 3, if you want all the levels available you should also buy the "HITMAN 3 Access Pass: HITMAN 2 Expansion" this includes two extra maps and two sniper maps which in the future will only be available in the more expensive Deluxe version.

      • +2

I absolutely cannot understand why they've made this announcement while leaving steam a dogs breakfast for another few weeks, it just adds even more confusion on top of the existing confusion.

Their entire corporate structure needs to be dragged out back and shot, and survivors need to be shot again.

  • +4

Ahh I already own Hitman GOTY and Hitman 2 but don’t own 3 on my Playstation

So this really isn’t anything special for people like me hey?

    Great deal tho

    • +3

My understanding is you can play through 1 and 2 again on the newer 3 engine. But this entire ecosystem has been such a (profanity) for so long its hard to say for sure.

      • +1

Yer I think this was always the case. When 3 came out you could uninstalled 1 & 2 in you owned them and it would all be in 3 and play under that engine like you mentioned

It’s an amazing deal if you don’t own what I own haha

  • +4

I bought Hitman 3 based on the rave reviews it received on here. I couldn't believe how glitch ridden it was, multiple missions failed multiple times based on completely random occurrences, characters falling off invisible cliffs, glitching out etc. Even when it worked the gameplay seemed extremely basic for a newer game. Ended up having to take Microsoft to fair trading to get a refund. I wouldn't pay 10c for a Hitman game again, just my 10c.

  • Now if it only comes to the Xbox Game Pass..

    Edit: Nvm already there apparently

    https://news.xbox.com/en-us/2022/01/20/hitman-trilogy-brings…

  • +2

What if you "own" the games through Game Pass?

    • +1

They may leave Game pass sooner

  • HITMAN – World of Assassination (approx. $70 USD or local equivalent)
Includes: HITMAN 3, plus H1 GOTY Access Pass and H2 Standard Access Pass.

HITMAN – World of Assassination Deluxe Pack (approx. $30 USD or local equivalent)
Includes: H3 Deluxe Pack, H3 Seven Deadly Sins Collection and H2 Expansion Access Pass.

Why is the Deluxe Pack cheaper?

    • Missing H1 in the cheaper world deluxe keyword list

Inconsistent Hitman 3 wording vs H3

      Nice and simples! ..

Deluxe "pack" referring to some DLC without base game?

      • Correct. Sort of.

The WOA $70 gets you 3, 2 standard, and 1+ all DLC
The WOA Deluxe $30 gets you 3 Deluxe, 3 DLC, 2 DLC but not base, and no 1.

You need to get both to get all dlc for all 3.
They still don't offer a single buy for everything, which yes, is f-eyed retar&&& in 2023. But baby steps.

    • +1

Deluxe pack doesnt have any games in it. Its purely an add on DLC pack where you have to own the World of Assassination first, to buy it.
Not sure about the other replies but they are either worded poorly or they dont have the right info. You guys are causing just as much confusion as the developers lol

  • +2

The new freelancer mode would probably have been gimped without access to the maps. Also surely most people playing own these already so it's less pain for new users to get set up. Probably means no more paid DLC in the future either

  • +7

This is somehow even more confusing for people who already own H1 and H2. Do I buy H3 now or wait? What a (profanity).

    • Doesnt matter really, you will get the same stuff regardless. Make sure you look into how to transfer save progression from hitman 2 before starting hitman 3.

      • +1

But as an Ozbargainer I need to know how to minimise the amount of money I spend to get the same stuff! And from my understanding of the new pricing structure, it seems that buying H3 while it's on sale now (rather than waiting until this change goes through) will save me money.

        • it will probably continue to drop in price unless freelancer is massive. it will probably be discounted to a similar value when the patch drops

    • +3

You buy Hitman 3 base on heavy discount right now, then you wait, because on the 26th you get a free upgrade to include the Base H2 and H1 + DLC.

Then you have 1x DLC option, which gets you expanded H3 and H2 DLC.

      • +1

Yes, that's what I was thinking as well, if they don't reduce the price of WoA based on my current ownership of H1 and H2, then I'd rather spend the $31 now versus the USD$70 later…

        • +1

          Bingo.

You buy the base now, then the deluxe pass later, and you'll have everything. All on the new engine, too. I believe there's a way to bring your character/progression over too.

          • @[Deactivated]: On Reddit they advise against buying the H3 Deluxe dlc as it's not worth it.

            • @Agret: The H3 Deluxe DLC might not be worth it by itself but I haven't played the H2 expansion maps that will come with the WoA Deluxe Pack so I'll probably grab that on sale. The expansion by itself is currently $53 on Steam which is more than what I paid for the H2 base game!

            • @Agret: Not the current one, no, I mean wait and buy the "all in one" post-28th one.

  • I have Hitman 3 on disc - will this work for disc owners?

    • +2

Yeah it will come in the patch

I'm guessing this won't work for those that have the free Hitman 3 Starter Pack (and subsequent Hitman 1 GOTY add-on) on Epic ?

    • Following

    • Are you referring to this Epic giveaway? Curious as well…

    • Also interested in this.

    • Interesting question - and admittedly, IOI's news post doesn't explicitly describe this scenario.

My interpretation, is that on the Epic Games Store, the HITMAN 3 - Free Starter Pack is a free (but limited) demo that is classified as an Add-On, underneath the HITMAN 3 (Base Game) product listing.

      Come January 26th:

      • All existing HITMAN 3 (Base Game) owners will get the free upgrade to the HITMAN - World of Assassination product, automatically getting the HITMAN 1 GOTY and HITMAN 2 Standard Access Passes (if they were not already in their EGS account library).
      • For HITMAN 3 - Free Starter Pack (Add-On) owners, who do NOT have the HITMAN 3 (Base Game) in their EGS library, the HITMAN 1 GOTY and HITMAN 2 Standard Access Passes will NOT be added.
      • It so happens that with the previous temporary giveaway, those HITMAN 3 - Free Starter Pack (Add-On) owners who were able to add the HITMAN 3 Access Pass: HITMAN 1 GOTY Edition (Add-On) to their EGS library, ahead of the January 26th 2023 transition date … they should get to keep that Access Pass in their EGS library, showing up underneath the HITMAN - World of Assassination (Base Game) product listing.

If anyone spots more concrete details (from IOI or elsewhere) that confirms or debunks the above regarding this scenario, feel free to share it here

Ps5 is actually cheaper as deluxe edition on ps store.
    https://store.playstation.com/en-au/product/EP3969-PPSA01769…

    • That does look like a great deal at first glance!.

    • +1

Good spot, I was only looking at Standard Edition versions when I was drafting the deal post - I've added Deluxe Edition versions to the deal post's table for all applicable platforms

  • +1

I was a little late to the party, I purchased Hitman 2 and (then) Hitman 3 within a few months of each other. I went the Xbox pathway first - Hitman 2 Gold/GOTY edition. It was only a $20 gamble (technically $19.87), played through it including buying access to the Hitman 1 missions (it was worth it imo). Then the opportunity presented itself to buy Hitman 3, wasn't as good of a discount (as it was only mid last year lol) but I justified the high price to myself by 1) how much I enjoyed Hitman 2 on Xbox… and being a pc master race person assuming it would be better on pc than on console (and visually it was!).

But the clincher - I ended up buying Hitman 3 (just the base game) on Xbox a few months after buying it on pc. And I recently purchased the whole shebang on Playstation (wanted something else to play after buying the console - it was cheap enough lol). Bit silly spending $$$ on the same game that's going to be available even cheaper in a condensed package. No real regrets though as the series has been a lot of fun.

  • Finally simplifying the absolute mess of versions and purchases and packages and different upgrade paths.

Now they just need a simple full “GotY” pack on physical disc for collectors.

  • You can get Hitman 3 $49 at JB

For xbox digital, Hitman 3 at Eneba only $17 and deluxe only $18 Turkey region. Good to buy now if you dont collect physical.

    • a bit cheaper on G2A. redeemed ok

  • Good timing, was looking at getting Hitman 3 and found all these packs/pass confusing.

Is the delux pack worth the extra $15?

    • Felt like I neeeded a spreadsheet to decide which one to get on the PS store a few weeks ago. With all the add on DLCs, different editions and weird pricing. Its still not exactly clear, but better than before.

$15 extra confused me. Then I looked and saw its $14 extra right now for steam. Depends if you like the game you'll want to play the extra missions. If you don't you waste $14 :) won't know until you play, you can follow stealth style or just go all out action man with gameplay

      • Hitman 2, going in stealthy was a breeze and a delight. Hitman 3 is a bit harder to keep things stealthy a lot of methods of success for the Hitman/Hitman 2 maps are no longer as effective due to different timings with enemies walking by and such. I still get the job done, but not in a clean/quiet manner lol.

  • +4

Good post, I'm lost… Probably best for me to just wait to purchase the HITMAN World of Assassination then…

    • +3

If you buy Hitman 3 now (while it’s on sale) you will get upgraded to World of Assassination, including Hitman 1 and 2 maps for free on 26/01. So if you know you for sure you want it best bet is to buy now before sales end.

      • Thanks! So Hitman 3 standard or deluxe edition is the best for now then?

        • +1

Unless you’re a completionist, I would just go standard.

If you wanted to spend extra money, go the “Hitman 3 Access Pass: Hitman 2 expansion” as it’s the only DLC which includes actual new maps that aren’t included already.

    • It's still clear as mud

  • +1

fantastic deal. time to fly to Argentina again

    • Who are hitting in Arg?

      • G2A

  • GreenManGaming also has the Epic version of Hitman 3 for $29.73 AUD, which is cheaper than the Steam version for $31.48 AUD.

    • Good call, I had earlier used the keyword search on GreenManGaming and it only kept giving me the Steam versions - but I have now added the EGS versions and their prices on the deal post's table.

    • the steam version comes up as $25.82 for me shrugs

      • USD maybe?

      • Seems it has updated since this morning from -65% to -71% discount.

    • Update: The EGS versions of both HITMAN 3 Standard Edition and Deluxe Edition, now appear to be Out of Stock on the GreenManGaming storefront. The deal post's table has been updated to reflect this.

  • $25.99 at cdkeys for base HM3 https://www.cdkeys.com/hitman-3-pc-steam

So I've got Hitman 3 Standard on both PSN and EpicGames. Do I need to buy the deluxe in order to be eligible?

    • +1

You don't need to buy anything, standard edition of hitman 2 will grant you access to all of hitman 1 & 2 when the change comes in.

  • because of the discontinuation and free upgrade i double checked that i own all hitman games aside from the 7 deadly sins.
apparently there is a different "newer" version of both hitman 2 and 3 that is saying i dont own them. in the store it looks like they took down both the editions of hitman 2 &3 i own in favor for the "new" ones. i have tried to contact customer support at ioi and the store i bought it from but good customer service is getting more more a thing of the past.
i am unable to upgrade both hitman 2 standard access path and then hitman trilogy because of this error.
perhaps my game pass is interfering with the games too
i am talking about the Xbox versions of hitman

  • this whole thread is misleading! i just bought hitman 3 last week in preperation acording to false information here for 90$ and find out today it wants to charge me again for the new game WTF!

    • +1

if you launch Hitman 3 it should have updated to World of Assassination with all the content added (it did for me)

So WoA is now on Game Pass instead of the 3 separate Hitman games. I hadn't started any of the games yet so dunno how save transfers and stuff work: https://www.xbox.com/en-au/games/store/hitman-world-of-assas…
