Cheap RT-PCR Test for Overseas Travel

Hi all,

We have overseas trip planned to India and wondering is there any place to do the RT-CPR test cheaper. We are 4 adults and will be transitioning through Singapore. As per latest rules, we need to produce negative result to board the flight.

I don't think state government clinics can do these only private does. We are in Melbourne for reference.

Cheers

  • Have you googled? Melb Pathology apparently do the tests, but it will come down to cost / location / convenience for each of the 4 adults.

    • I did. I think cheapest we could locate was $120 per person

That helps others in knowing what your start point for 'cheaper' is.

        • yap…given we are 4. Happy to travel a bit as well in Melbourne if its saves money

        Express RT-PCR at Airport for $79. https://www.histopath.com.au/locations/airport

that looks good. Trip to Melb airport is the only hassle….do they have clinics anywhere else?

          • @s0805: I am from Sydney. They have many Community testing centres across Sydney, but none in Melbourne :(

          • @s0805: it's 90 minutes express result , so take your punt do it just before you fly if you're lazy to go there a day earlier.

as mentioned above and also on the website , they only have other clinics in NSW.

            • @dcep: yap….flight is too early in day so better drive in few days before to meet the guidelines. cheers @dc1.

@s0805: A true Ozb would take the 3 jabs to save $ on pcr test.

                • @dcep: Thanks. Regardless one vaccinated or not, negative rt PCR is must for travel. We r all vaccinated.

I could be reading this wrong or your situation differs.
                    Either …. OR …. = just 1 of the 2

all returnees and entrants are required to provide either a valid COVID-19 vaccination certificate (3 doses) of vaccines on the Emergency Use List of World Health Organization (WHO) or a certificate of negative result of pre-departure COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours prior to departing from the original country/region.

                    • @dcep: No you are surely reading it right. Its just that we are travelling to India. India have made this mandatory even for the passengers transiting. Basically we are transiting from Singapore (change of plane), only 90 mins, but sill have to do negative rt-cpr. It is what it is i guess…

                      • @s0805: All good. Just disregard my comment above.

Not sure what got me but I somehow mistaken you're going to Japan. Hahaha!

                        • @dcep: Japan is on the list as well…not for now….haaaa

          • +1

            @s0805: You said

Happy to travel a bit as well in Melbourne if its saves money

            Then

Trip to Melb airport is the only hassleā€¦.

            So which is it?

  • Looking for an option in OOL best I have found is at the airport for $120 Japan needs result as a certificate which really limits my options.

    • japan only needs it if you're not vaccinated
