Other Alternatives to PayPal for Online Payments? Citi Premier Card got Compromised

Mate's Citi Premier card got compromised. Received an SMS Regarding a transaction made in the USA. Called the customer service line and while talking to the rep, noticed in the app another 2 USA transactions which were already processed, but the rep said will be put in dispute and a new card will be sent in the mail. Thank goodness for the SMS alert which prevented more unauthorised transactions.

The only other time this same card was compromised was on the Discount Drugstore fiasco. Wondering if this got to do with the Optus hack. Paypal, with its issues, is still the better option for online transactions. Or are there other alternatives?

    You can use Revolut or Zip to generate virtual cards or one-off cards that can be frozen or deleted individually.

      This. I never put my Commbank card details online anymore, always use the Revolut card now.
      Anything that is not a recurring payment, or not well known, gets a one time card.

      Same thing happened to me last year with 2 cards - also USA and in my case Ebay.
      I found out when Ebay sent me the email - thanks for your purchase etc.
      Ebay US - I don't have an account.
      Paid via PayPal - and their response when it hits the fan is to take it up with your bank.
      Eventually the transactions were reversed but I had to do the work.
      One of the cards payment came due while they were investigating and according to the bank I had to pay the outstanding amount.
      As I had direct debit set up they took the payment but to their credit willingly returned it after their investigstion.
      NO I did have 2fa set up (didn't know PayPal had it).
      PayPal - all care but NO responsibility.

        Looks like some one got you PayPal login detail, or you might using simple/same password as your email .

    Paypal one has been changed regularly and they are different.
