    Update from Nightdive Studios on their Kickstarter page - the upcoming remake of the original 1994 first-person action-adventure video game System Shock had been previously delayed, but now has a March 2023 launch date.

    After our return from Gamescom we’ve been hesitant to share anything so as not to spoil any remaining surprises we have in store. However, we’ve picked a few last things to share before our quickly approaching launch window of March, 2023.

    As some of you have already pointed out this is not our first time announcing a tentative launch window, but over the past few years much has changed - the scope and scale of the project has evolved dramatically and with Prime Matter joining the project it’s enabled us to focus on quality-of-life improvements, bug fixing, and localization support - the last major steps towards releasing a game we’re all incredibly proud of. This has also given us time to go back and polish various aspects of the game that needed that extra shine.

    Heroes of Might and Magic II - which is currently on sale (-75%, A$3.79) as part of GOG's Heroes of Might and Magic® 2: Gold package - has a freely downloadable, open-source game engine implementation fheroes2 that had recently hit the big version 1.0 milestone, with release builds for Windows / macOS / Linux / Android / PlayStation Vita / Nintendo Switch platforms.

    fheroes2 is a recreation of the Heroes of Might and Magic II game engine.

    This open source multiplatform project, written from scratch, is designed to reproduce the original game with significant improvements in gameplay, graphics and logic (including support for high-resolution graphics, improved AI, numerous fixes and user interface improvements), breathing new life into one of the most addictive turn-based strategy games.

    Installation guide

    You will need to have a demo version or the full version of Heroes of Might and Magic II game to be able to play. We strongly advise to purchase the original game on GOG or Ubisoft Store platforms.

    GOG Interview: Digital Foundry's appreciation of classic titles and a collection of recommended ones!

    We are incredibly happy that we got to talk with Digital Foundry’s John Linneman, who shared some more light about DF Retro beginnings, his and Digital Foundry’s appreciation of classic games as a whole, what he’d like to see regarding them in the future, and more!
