Accor Plus Membership for Accommodation in Japan

Does anyone know whether it's worth signing up for Accor Plus Membership just for the free nights certificates to use in Japan? Which membership is cheaper, through Fiji or Indonesia?

I joined intercontinental platinum for the same reason, japanese hotels rooms are traditionally so small. IHG is the exception. Used my free night at the strings tokyo. Beautiful hotel with late checkout. I have tried accor plus but did see the value. I often puchase ihg points when they have the extra 100% free promo this combined with points promo nights makes for some cheap 5 star nights. Holiday Inn Express are doing a huge push in japan with a big hotel in shibuya opening in 2023. This is the budget end of the ihg group. But are awesome value. Intercontinental platinum may not suite everyone as you have to purchase on night to get one night and i think I paid around $600 but we did get upgraded. Our february japow trip we paid for 100% of hotels with flybuys points. I would have liked to stay HIE in sibuya for tokyo part but it wont be open till later in the year.

    • Thank you, I will look into these! Our trip is later in November.

I haven’t heard of a free nights with Intercontinental Platinum? Can you get 50% of meals for two and 10% of drinks like you can with the Accor Plus card?

Don't want to hijack the thread but how does someone "join" intercontinental platinum? Isn't it a reward after xxx number of nights after the base level?

  • The Accor group underrepresented in Japan. I certainly wouldn't be signing up just for a Japan YMMV. The thing about Japan is that there are plenty of domestic chains that have pretty nice rooms, eg in Kanazawa recently I was impressed at Onyado Nono, rooms, location and staff.
