Sony XAV-AX6000 Digital Multimedia Receiver Call Quality Issue

Hello guys, just need some advice with my new Sony headunit.

Couple days ago I've upgraded my headunit from XAV-AX5000 to XAV-AX6000. Everything on the new headunit was really great, but the call quality was extremely disappointing. The call quality on the AX6000 is extremely poor compared to AX5000, it sounds like I'm hearing people's voice on a UHF radio; it is very muffled and hard to hear. Please don't get me wrong; the music quality and everything else is accurate and great, it's just the call quality.

I've tried factory resetting, updating the software, disabling wireless android auto and use only Bluetooth, tried turning on/off LDAC, tried using wired connection, and so on (pretty much every possible way I can do), however it did not improve the call quality. It's definitely not my phone problem because in the end I swapped back to my old AX5000, and the call quality was back to normal (was significantly better than AX6000, which shouldn't be the case because it's a newer model and I paid much more for it??).

Hello, I know AX6000 haven't been around for long, so it's extremely difficult to find any opinions or solutions on the internet yet. So, if any of you are experiencing same or similar problems and know how to fix, please let me know thanks!

  • Can the person on the other end hear you ok?

  • Is there a separate volume adjust for the call? Can the other person hear you fine?

Another thought - I put a cheap head unit in my car. Call quality was Ok for a week or so, but then became quiet all of a sudden but could still be heard OK. Radio and other stuff still worked. Turns out the front speakers had packed it in. Rear speakers were enough for me to think the unit was still ok but that something had happened to the cheap and nasty Bluetooth call bits when the head unit was fine, but trying to send the call volume through dud speakers.

Could you have set the fader/balance in such a way that the call is quiet? maybe because it’s only meant to come out the front speakers?
