Apple MacBook Air 13.6" Laptop: M2 Chip 8-Core CPU, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD $1698 + Delivery ($0 to Metro Areas/ C&C) @ Officeworks

860

Lowest price for the MBA base model. Prices increased due to AUD and inflation compared to the last few years, unfortunately.

Still a good price.

First time poster so come at me.

@stevie67: The AirPods offer works out better up until the $3k mark

Afterwards you save more with AOC

This is, of course if you want to flip the AirPods or we’re going to buy a pair.
An Apple gift card this year at reduced value might also make AOC more appealing under $3k

            • @YLD1: Will likely just for for M1 at $1294.

M1 is A$1,294.70. Surely that's the real bargin here. The new version is not worth $400 more

      • M1 with a portable 500GB/1TB SSD for <$100 is perfect for our needs(high school). I can’t justify the extra for M2.

      • My stance exactly, if stressed about the ram situation you can upgrade that and still have a cheaper machine than base M2. "Real world use" is not going to suffer for most people using the base model of both M1 & M2. Both are miles faster than any Intel Mac.

      • cant see anyone selling it this cheap

Interesting. So anyone can buy from AOC store?

The other bonus is that you can upgrade the RAM/storage if so desired.

    • What’s the deal with buying from AOC ? I’m visiting from NZ and plan to get the TRS refund on this. Do we have to present any sort of Union membership?

      • nup. just use the link and order.

  • Get in quick when the amazon one(s) are sold out most likely OW will increase the price.

Just use AOC store. Direct from Apple, can easily use the 14 day no question money back guarantee.

    • Amazon's price has gone back to $1943..

  • Have they introduced Bootcamp yet?

    • +1

They won’t unless windows officially supports M1

Currently windows has a secret license to only work on Qualcomm chips

    • Doubt they will given the ARM architecture and also the market demands (vs when original Boot Camp was introduced and marketed as a way to convince Windows converts that if it all went bad they could at least run Windows natively on their Macbooks).

    • I am not sure Apple wants to do Bootcamp for Apple Silicon. Even if Microsoft make Windows ARM version more opened, Windows applications will need to be re-compiled for ARM. Generally, running Bootcamp, we tend to want to run x86/x64 applications / games. Bootcamp for ARM isn't going to be quite the same.

However, the biggest question mark is the way Mac Apple Silicon boot to alternative OS is different Mac Intel, the Option key to control start up no longer works on Apple Silicon based Macs. Now, it is now holding the Power button and it behaves slightly differently.

  • i need to buy a macbook air m1 for my son. I was waiting for the apple back to school promo that they have been doing for last few years. usually they start it around 5-6th of jan but this year no sign of it.

thinking if i should get it from the aoc store

      Wait until next week

I reckon it’ll be announced tomorrow but it will definitely be announced this week

If not it’ll be the first time back to school/uni has not been run

      • thanks. will wait then.

  • whats the difference between MBA256M2MN & MLY33XX????

  • -1

This was about $1500 from Amazon in November

  • I really wanted a M2 Air with 512GB, but I grabbed a pretty decent HP deal for $750, and it literally leaves me a spare $1,300 to build a music/editing PC.

I've never liked Apple, but I can admit their laptops are pretty top notch but it costs you.

  • The M1 is a bargin, the M2 is HYPED redesign that needs (2x8gb) 16gb to get full speed out of the M2 (unlike the dual 2x4g=8gb dual channel M1 arrangement)

The ONLY reason to get the M2 is to get the newer codec engine for encoding video like the MBP14/16, the GPU cores are the same as the old. Its a nice redesign, but when you order the 16gb edition you pay enough to buy a used MBP14 almost!

So the bargin is the M1…. pure and simple… I await the M2 Pro and will pass judgment when its a real thing but for the time being the MBA-M2 isnt the bargin it once was

I thought the first bargin was a typo. Then you did it again. And you did it again. I just had to tell you it's spelt bargain.
