Most colours/styles are discounted, some are still full price however. A good range of sizes are left for most models.

The Gel Kayano series is widely-regarded as one of the best stability/support-oriented running shoes for those with overpronation (feet rolling excessively inward when running, commonly a result of flat feet).

I was hunting around for some Gel Kayano 29s and this appears to be the cheapest deal at the time of posting, from an obviously reputable vendor and within the range of the historical lows for this sneaker (give or take a few dollars). The only cheaper deals posted in the past have been for specific colour variants in specific sizes.

The other current deal for Gel Kayano 29s from Sports Mart is for the extra wide variant, which I'd wager most people don't opt for.

The Asics online store has a 60 day returns policy from the date of receipt and free shipping on returns (for OneASICS members) or alternatively products can also be returned in-person to an Asics store.

just saying I used to have reebok with exposed cuff lining just as this shoe and it worn out very easily.

The cuff lining or the shoe itself?

I think you'll find a lot of running shoes have exposed cuff lining. That being said, I can't remember the last time I had a shoe where the cuff lining was an issue.

The Kayanos are regarded as pretty durable/long-wearing, and definitely a step up from your run-of-the-mil Nike Pegasus/Adidas Ultraboost type shoes that tend to wear out quite quickly with heavy use.

    • Kayano is pretty indestructible. Not exactly but lasts a long time.

  • I just got a pair kayano 29 (non platinum) from the Ascis shop at Carindale $189. Really good deal. The 29 have a noticeably bouncier sole than my previous 26 and 27 kayanos. I haven’t run in them yet

I have had about 10 pairs of Kayanos over many years - have been great shoes. HOWEVER I've already had to return two pairs of these 29s. The sole pattern is poorly glued, and has twice come loose and flapped around after maybe two months of use.

Guy at Sportsmart says it's been a bit of a theme. I usually love Kayanos, but beware. YMMV.

    • Good to know, I'll keep an eye out for that.

    • I’ve had the exact same experience I love the kayanos but this version has been the worst by a long way

    • Thanks for sharing. I tend to find the even numbers aren't great and they usually fix or more stable on the odd numbers.

This is a premium priced sneakers, not KMart junk. The quality should be excellent for a $200 purchase.

  • My last Asics were the 20th Anniversary edition which at the time I bought two and also one of the packs with the 1st edition and 20th.

It was the last of the great Kayanos

Bought my Gel Kayano 27s on the 7th August 2020 and have walked/ran at least 1276km in them according to the Garmin app.

I'd buy these if they had 4E in stock.

For those in Victoria, Stringers in Clayton (https://www.stringersports.com.au/?post_type=product&s=Kayan…) has 30% off store wide with code (BOXING30) bringing them down to $181.30

  • How similar are these to the 27s?

    • My last pair were 27s (and 26 before that), the fit is the same. But the 29s are noticeably more bouncy, the ASICS store rep also said they changed the sole material so they aren’t as hard as previous kayanos. I did a short run in the 29s today and they felt good.

  • Managed to score 29 Platinum for $180 at Intersport because it was incorrectly marked down.

Then 28 Platinum for $119 at Asics DFO Homebush.

Very happy with them. First time getting Kayanos.

  • I had the 27 and loved them but after trying the 28 and 29 in store i picked the 28 as it felt more supported. The softness/plush feeling of most shoes are often because of the insoles which wears down pretty quick. I think support and cushioning in in long term is more important for running shoes. But saying that in general Kyanos are excellent shoes.

I have flat and super wide feet (4E). I used the Kayano 28s and it got me back into running and I was proud of my progress. I recently switched to New Balance Vongo Fresh Foams, and improved my 5k by 55 seconds. Could not believe it!!

Not dissing the Kayanos, but there was an extra layer of support the NB gave during the run. I however struggle to walk long distances on the NBs so use it purely for running only. The Kayanos however was almost an everyday shoe for me. Will buy again as a backup.

    • Interesting experience with the New Balance, I've only recently switched to the Kayano's from your run of the mill Nikes and found the experience to be way better (Flat, wide foot) however not sure if I'm 100% sold on them yet. I'll see if I can try out the New Balance somewhere

  • Damn, looks like the deal has expired.

Asics sold out pretty quickly. We must have OzBargained their remaining stock.
