been using this prepaid for more than 6 months without any recharge and still going fine.

    • gee that's good, $26/6mth unlimited email & (slow) web is very good.
So can you add on a $15 flatchat recharge? (1c txt & 10c/min calls for 90days)

    • how do you use the prepaid without recharge? the person in crazy johns kept insisting it needs recharge. are you using it with wifi or it can still be used without wifi without any recharge?

I suppose like any pre-paid it stays active for X-days/months after your credit runs out (so you can still have incoming calls, etc). Blackberry data isn't like normal WAP data, it has it's own special network back to RIM. So I guess CJ don't shutdown the BB component.

        • Yes, thats correct. There's more info on the check-out page when you purchase (http://www.crazyjohns.com.au/crazy-johns-29-blackberry-sim-p…):

6 months unlimited BlackBerry email & internet
Includes $5 starter credit (cap rates) with 15 day expiry
You need an active credit balance of at least 1c to maintain unlimited Blackberry email & internet
Recharge with a $15 Crazy recharge or above to continue getting your Blackberry benefits when your initial credit runs out

    • Do we need to recharge it tho? It seems like you have to recharge certain amount after activating that card. So like $26 + extra recharge?

      • No, the $29 sim includes $5 worth of credit. So as long as you keep atleast 1c on the account the BB services will work fine for atleast 6 months.

        • My current credit balance is 0$ and bb service still working including emails.

      • Believe it or not. I never do any recharge. Me, gf, and sister used it and never recharge. Still working fine till now without wifi. Give it a go. My number has been activated for 9months+..

        • Cool, will do. Thanks heaps :)

    Alternative,

    http://www.boost.com.au/products/sims/

$49.95/12 months, optus network (CJ is on vodafone network), if that's any advantage.

I'm still within my first month btw. I called them the other day to check if I need to recharge every month to keep the BB service, but the rep said no need (although I think she wasn't very sure herself).

If I still have my blackberry active past the 22nd this month, that means she's right. We'll see.

    • If it is for 12 months then it's a really good deal :) update us after pass 22nd :)

    • With this plan you MUST recharge every month.

      • so for CJ you do not need to recharge and it works..

but for optus u need to recharge every month?? Will be lookig forward to jinroh's update :

I knew about CJ because my gf was in the same situation few months back. Her friend advised that he has been using BB service for longer than 6 months without doing any recharge with CJ. So, similar to vandwi above. Kind of a glitch, I guess, in their system.

So she's with CJ for 4 months or so now. No problem with her BB service, and she hasn't done any recharge. Personally I was comfortable at spending more to get optus network.

But I did my homework about it, I asked the call centre before buying, asked the telechoice store I bought it from, then asked the call centre again on the 22nd last month when I activated it, they all said I don't need recharging to keep the BB service active (although no one seems to be very sure about it).

And I can't find anything that says I need to recharge anywhere in the pack. I have taken notes of all conversations with them, and will be asking for my money back if they switch off my BB after a month.

Will definitely update u all after the 22nd. If this is some kind of glitch with both Boost and CJ, we should keep it quiet and keep these companies in the dark. Lol.

      uhmm…

      From their FAQs:

Can I use amaysim with my BlackBerry?
You can certainly use our SIM card in your Blackberry for making calls. However, BlackBerry has some proprietary applications, such as email services, data, MMS, and internet which we do not support and therefore will not work on amaysim.

  • Can we get discounted CJ flatchat recharges?

    Update:

My BB service is still active. Tried sending bbm, email, etc all works fine.

The only thing is this, when I check my balance, it says:
"Your service has now expired! Recharge before 25/01/13 to keep your number"

    Go figure.

Your phone is a time machine. :)

    • and if you use`skype you don't need phone credit ;-)

oh looks like flatchat recharge is 10% extra credit when bought online.

  • Looks like CJ's is finishing up on 31 August.
Anyone else got some cheap BIS plans? Telstra's $40/mth pre-paid is pricey.

  • Hey guys… I was wondering if anyone has found a cheaper alternative that enables BIS as well! I'm currently using the Optus $30 cap prepaid which includes $300 worth of calls (which I don't think I use much of), unlimited text (which I abuse) and 500mb of data (hardly use since it's so slow!) I use the BBM very often as well as their email service. I find that $30 is a bit much since I am still in uni and my friends are on plans that are like $11 or some sort. I own the Blackberry 9900. Not looking for a new phone anytime soon as I am hopeless with small touch devices hence a fan of Blackberry's qwerty phones!
