Hydralyte Electrolyte 60 Tablets $21.99 + Delivery ($0 C&C/ in-Store/ $50 Order) @ Chemist Warehouse

300

Been waiting out for a decent deal on some Hydrolyte for ages. Saw these on special in store today which I believe is part of their current catalogue promotion.

Last time it was this price was October 2022. Before that looks like it used to sell for $19.99 when on special which was back in July 2022. So $2 price rise but still worth picking up if you are in need.

  • That’s a lot of diarrhoea…😪

    • +13

They're fantastic for preventing hangovers or taking after exercise, too.

        • +13

This isn't about the lack of water but the lack of vitamins and minerals.

          Water has neither.

            @teereb: mic drop

          • +6

@teereb: It has negligible amount of Potassium. You can get a lot more of it from taking one banana bite. The sodium from a hint of salt. Glucose - that banana bite gave you enough. Its not enough for post workout, or in other words, you can get that from your food easily, cheaply, tastily.

@John Doh: Did I say otherwise?

Edit: that's not to say I don't agree with you, cos you're right. Plenty of fruit and veg is great for that, even a beer is good recovery for some things…

              • +2

@teereb: I replied to the wrong person, shouldnt have started my beer session so soon ;)

Yep. I always drop a few tabs of these after a big night on the turps. Makes a difference in the morning.

  • Is this better than the sachets ?

    • +1

Product quality is probably identical, just the form it comes in is different. I imagine powder in the sachets would dissolve a bit faster than the tablets, though shouldn’t be much in it.

However, note that some elderly and other folks with weak grip strength may struggle to open the sealed tablet container the first time—I had to help someone with them just a couple of weeks ago.

  • Any reviews on the strawberry kiwi flavour? How many do people usually put in water? I find their recommended 2 tab per 200ml too salty tasting

    • +4

i only use 1 tablet, and it makes it last longer.

they recommend 2 so you use them up fast and have to buy again, lol.

      • I put 3 in about 500ml but still find it a bit too salty lol

        • Have you tried using like, 2 per 500ml?

    • The strawberry kiwi flavour is really good!

      • Good to know :)

I've been using the Aldi tubes for about $5 each, not sure if these Hydralyte ones have any advantages?

    • +3

      Yeah I just buy these.

I actually bought 90 serving Xtend bccas for $20 on clearance, it has more electrolytes than all these products.

      • +3

I have checked the ingredients and the Aldi ones are identical to Hydralite. I only get the Aldi ones now.

Great to prevent hangovers. Take before going to sleep with a couple of pain killers and you will wake up cherry ripe after drinking

        • “with a couple of pain killers”

Yeah but not everyone has access to opiates 😛😀

        • Don't take paracetamol when drinking, it'll only make your liver worse. It's really not highlighted enough how bad that combo can be!

    • How do the Aldi ones taste compared to these?

    • When I last checked ~18 months ago the Aldi ones had more or less identical ingredients and quality and were heaps cheaper per tablet at around 25 cents each (from memory). Not sure if the Aldi price has increased or not, does anyone know (I can't recall what the Aldi product was called).

    go with voost

    • +1

      Currently half price at Coles

    • +1

Interesting… for 60 tabs they are actually cheaper than Hydralyte at $17.99

      https://www.chemistwarehouse.com.au/buy/86059/voost-multivit…

Wonder how the two products compare in terms of effectiveness?

    • Yeah 20tab for $4.95 (Amazon S&S) a few weeks ago

    • +1

I used Hydralite for years and years. I've got my freezer stocked with the ice blocks for my little one. I personally switched to Voost. I've found their tablets works a lot better and faster when I get that dehydration headache. I got a cheap subscription on Amazon

      • +1

Amazon subscription sells you at a "random" current price at a time of shipment. You can't call it "cheap".

        • +1

I always check the price before the next order. It's been sitting around $4.50 each. The best locally is 3 for $20 in CWH

  • Need an Amazon price match then S&S

    • Amazon don't seem to even have stock unless 3rd party sellers sadly

    Aldi Essential Health Electrolytes 20pk - $6.49
    https://www.aldi.com.au/en/groceries/health/health-detail/ps…
    60pk = $19.47

  • +1

Decent price, but if you want these for exercise something like science in sport is better in terms of what's actually in the tablet.

Last time I checked (about 12mths ago), you'd have to take 2 of these tablets to get roughly the same salt, potassium, electrolytes etc as one science in sport tablet which makes them more expensive than science in sport despite the "cheaper" shelf price.

A good alternative is water and for $21.99 you can buy around 9,000 litres without even leaving home and for the five or so dollars saved in transport costs you get another 2,000 litres or a bunch of banana's next shop.

    • You have to add sugar and salt to the water, but yeah these are rip offs.

  • I bought it from coles half price 40 pack for $16 I guess
