Cheap Phone/ADSL splitter

Does anyone know where to find a cheap ADSL splitter for use with TPG? It is ridiculously expensive in Big W at $30.

  • eBay? About a buck if you are willing to wait a week. More if you buy from a store in this country.

BTW, in case you were thinking that way, they are generic, no need to get "TPG" filters.

Edit: You could ask friends, neighbours, co-workers, Freecycle, etc. if someone can give you one. They last longer than the modems they come with so people accumulate them. Also another place to get one is your local PC shop. $30 is a ripoff.

  • Pick one up from MSY for $3+ if you need it today.

  • Ah I forgot to mention that it will be used for ADSL 2+. Is there any actual difference between the ADSL filter and ADSL2+ filter?

    • Yes there is, an ADSL2 Filter will work for ADSL but an ADSL Filter may not work for ADSL2, in the long run you might be better getting a filter that is approved for adsl2

      see this http://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/adslfp_03

      • From the links in that page, the cheapest ADSL2+ filter is $16.93 from Warcom. Any chance I can get something cheaper than that?

        • Like maldrat said get one for $3 from MSY it will probably work fine if you find you have problems after you fit it worry about it then?

  • Thanks for all the tips, will try the cheap one first.

  • Do you require a Filter/Splitter for ADSL2+ if you aren't going to be connecting a landline phone?

Also, for ADSL2+ connecting to an Australian conventional 600 series socket is it better to use an adaptor and than a standard inline filter or buy something like http://www.c10.com.au/products/adsl-filters/adsl-filtersplit…

No you only need the filter/splitter if you want to have the modem AND a phone connected ;)
