  • Thanks Tafe.

From the reviews, this looks like a kick-ass projector, except for the 3D (which appears to be substandard). Here's one of several reviews that is very positive about this projector,
    http://www.whathifi.com/review/epson-eh-tw5900

The price looks good. The UK list price is about 950 pounds, Amazon UK is about 900 pounds. Both of these prices are comparable, except you'd need to pay for shipping and wouldn't have warranty in Aus for a UK import. Hence, I'd call this a bargain.

FWIW, I bought myself a casio XJ-A240 a few years ago because I don't have to worry about lamp life (IIRC the Casio is rated for about 20,000 hours v/s the usual 4,000 hours of most projectors). The bulb (and standard high price) is the only drawback I can see with the Epson EH-TW5900.

  • 20000:1 contract ratio compared to the next model is 40000:1 , thats the only thing holding back me from jumping on it. I am not too worried about the 3D as i hate to put the big battery powered glasses while watching movies.
Does anyone know is there any projectors that I can use with passive glasses like the new LG TV's which not require charging the glasses and light weight, or the ones we use like in the cinemas..

  • Really want the TW9000, not even available on the Epson website for some reason.

This retails for 1999 at thecableconnection, so it is a good price for reliable 2D picture. Reviews say it struggles on 3D and most of the do.

This is where the BenQ W7000 excels in 3D mode. However, that is over $1000 more. How often will you watch 3D anyway?

  • Looks like they have a screen bundle offer on normal stock no carton damage for $1699
    EH-TW5900 + 80" widescreen for only $1699 - save $589 + FREE DELIVERY
The Epson Projectors have the best warranty 3 1/2 years

    • The screen is only $99 (plus delivery).

  • but who wants 80" screen? instead i would buy a TV

  • Nice looking unit. AFAIK this is known as the PowerLite 5010 in the US and is the #1 3D projector on ProjectorCentral (great site)

    their review:
    http://www.projectorcentral.com/epson_home_cinema_5010_3d_pr…

    • I don't think that is right. The PowerLite 5010 is the EH-TW9000 which retails around the $3000 mark in Australia.

      • Aah oops yeah you're right… maybe it's the 3010E

  • I think the 3010E is the EH-TW6000. But there isnt much difference between the 5900 and the 6000. It is a good project if you don't want perfect 3D.

I am debating whether to get one myself!
