I was browsing through car air freshners and found this popular air freshner on sale (34% discounted price). Its only few cents more than the cheapest price.
Has good reviews, I've never tried it though.

Never understood these air fresheners. Masking bad smells just seems weird to me. Find the cause of the stink and remove/clean that instead of trying to just cover it over.

      I am the cause

    • My car smells like pizza for several days if I bring home a pizza even in the boot

        waste of money

Pizza is a waste of money? Gtfo! Lol

      • Put it under the bonnet and it'll keep warm too, or on the roof racks?

    • It’s the covering it over with toxic chemicals that disturbs me. Incredibly bad for health.

I'm heaps paranoid about this kind of stuff now. I feel breathing that stuff in can't be good for health. I don't like insect spray either.

I apply the leather protectant and vinyl protectant on the dash in the car and I sometimes wonder if these things are also quite toxic. I'm touching them with my hands and then might go and eat. Also I'm breathing that stuff in as well, especially on a hot day.

I wonder if spraying some cologne in the car instead would be better or if it would be just as toxic.

Everything with moderation, unless you're huffing that stuff everyday… I think you will be fine.

            • @JeBs: You're probably exposed to more "Dangerous" chemicals on a daily basis, ignorance is bliss though.

                • +3

@JeBs: I am going to hazard a guess that the person meant that everything is a chemical of some kind. Be it fragrant, preservative, surfactant, etc etc. Whether they are naturally made or synthesised, they are chemicals.

There are times when TGA get things wrong, but I personally think there is little reason to really worry about toxicity of products that are for general public as long as you follow the instruction and do what it says. If you are genuinely concerned, I guess you can have a look at the product's SDS and try to make out what it says.

I would assume that cologne would not be too different in terms of what goes in the product to be honest.

      • Why downvote mate? I thought it was a pretty good deal at a discounted price for someone who want this product

  • Scent: Tobacco

    • Ya I saw that…. even ppl who crave tobacco want to get rid of the tobacco scent after their puffs, why would anyone want a tobacco air freshener?

      • -4

Are you guys serious? I think the only ones who’d benefit from such a thing would be tobacco manufacturers. They must be affiliated with such scents somehow. What could be more powerful than a constant reminder in one’s car to motivate an addict to purchase more?

        Tobacco scents should be banned.

    • Fresh tobacco smells amazing.
Burnt tobacco smells like a bush fire.

  • What do you guys recommend to keep a car smelling nice? I love going into a good smelling car

    • Park the car in the garage, wind all the windows up and don’t drive it. The car will keep its new car smell for years.

      • What kind of ozbargainer has a new car tho? Haha

        • +1

You don't have a new Tesla Model Y???

    • These sound really good. Do you have personal experience with these fragrance products? Do they last a while?

      • I've got a few of them, the one I linked to is the best but fragrances are so subjective that I hesitate to put one over the other.

They are all subtle which I like, if you want super punchy smells you may not like these.
