Belong Data - Gift to Charity?

I have a small amount of belong data (about 50gb) that will soon be redundant (moving to another provider).

I gather there used to be a decent market in selling, but looking on ebay 50gb can be bought for as little as $8 or so.

Is there any way of donating it to a charity? I know Optus used to have a deal with the Smith family, but would be great to know of any options for Belong data.

Thanks

Good on you for wanting to share, I don't believe Belong have that option as yet. You could 'sell' the data and get the person to donate on your behalf.

  • I've done that before, asking the buyer to donate to a charity I support instead of paying me, then I sent the data to them.

  • looking on ebay 50gb can be bought for as little as $8 or so

Only worth <$4 really according to the recent post

The effort to sell or donate it may cost more…

    • The going rate on for recent Ozbargain classifieds sales is 5c to 7c per GB, so 50GB is only $3 worth or so.
But feel free to ask for a donation to your preferred charity and maybe someone will be happy to pay a bit above the going rate.

  • What is wrong with Belong? Too slow or what?

Nothing wrong with it, but I'm heading overseas for an extended period, and switching to ALDI.
Belong has generally been fine, though was a bit disappointed when they increased the monthly charge (I'm not a huge data user).

    Thanks everyone for the suggestions.

    • With that user name you must be heading to UK;)
Mate of mine doing similar for extended trip. He’s not sure whether to take his mobile number and use Felix roaming ($35/month plus the $20 roaming package), or park the AU number on Aldi, like you, and get a local number in Europe/UK. Only problem with travelling with a AU number is that it makes it difficult for people in UK/EU to call you.
      Decisions……..
