I did the 36 month Xbox Gold/Game Pass conversion hack around the launch of the Series X. I'm counting down on the last year now, and I'm wondering if there are any similar tricks for current, existing users? Everything I seem to come accros is for new or lapsed users. I'm hoping I'm not just stuck paying default prices now? I'm aware Microsoft Rewards program allows this, but I'm looking to extend a bulk amount if possible.
I would, but I heard some rumours there is a restructure coming for the Xbox online infrastructure relatively soon, once the Blizzard/Activision acquisition is finalised. Don't know the truth of it, but was told Gold is being retired, GamePass increasing in price, and many of these region hoping 'hacks' being plugged.
It will take a long time for all the world's governments to allow the Blizzivision deal to finish. But I'm scared this deal will be over too before I get the chance to do it again. Mine expires in three months. If you're really scared you could create a second account.
The saving comes from being able to convert gold to ultimate at a 1:1 ratio
I too have been on the look out to top long-term top up my account, but it seems the only means to do so would be to buy cheap 12-month gold, and then convert to ultimate (which gives less than 12 months).
Biggest bang for buck would be to let membership expire and use again the $1 option for 1:1 conversion
I smash all the free daily points week in week out and all the game pass quests and use microsoft rewards to redeem a bunch of free xbox live gold. Then pay for 1 month of full price ultimate tro convert all of it to ultimate. Thats the real cheapest method if you wanna do it that way.
occasionally there will be a promo where some company gives out one free month of games pass / x period

I let my monthly Ultimate subscription expire and purchase an international Ultimate code on ebay for $4 or so. Repeat the next month.
I repeated the same trick a couple of months ago, and it worked exactly the same
i.e. my first 36 months expired…now onto my second 36 months

How do you renew it? Mine isn't due to expire for a while now, but I think I did the Gold to Ultimate upgrade a couple of years ago for the $1 deal.
As above, just let it run out and then repeat the process
Yeah all you can do is let it run out or lose some savings and run 36 months on another account if you're worried about potential changes in the price down the line on the grey market. As mentioned above it's all about getting at 1 to 1
Wait for it to run out first.
