Recommendation: Fitness Tracker under $200

Hi,
I am looking for a fitness tracker.

This is all I want:

capture steps, heart rate, etc, Any recommendations?

    • Fitbit, like most companies that are trying to squeeze profits out of their customers, implemented a subscription service on their fitness trackers called Fitbit Premium. If you want sleep analytics you’ll have to pay for that. I wouldn’t buy a Fitbit for myself or for anyone I know because of that.

I grabbed a Mi Band 6 for like $40 a couple of years ago on a deal here and it’s served me quite well. Good sleep tracking (in terms of time slept, not so accurate for sleep cycles), good step tracking and decent heart rate tracking, maybe consider the Mi Band 7 which came out last year.

Thanks let me know if you see any deal

      • Additionally, I would add that the hardware quality of the Fitbits - and the Charge range in particular - has been rapidly declining over recent generations. As a former loyal Charge user, I'm sad to say that my current Charge 4 will likely be the last fitbit device that I purchase.

        • Thinking about changing . I'm using the charge 3, and have already been through 3 pairs of bands.

No idea if this is a Fitbit issue or if all other brands' bands fall apart too

Yeah not only the sub issue, but Fitbit's quality has gone down the drain. I think there are only 1 or 2 recent models out of their line up which got the "pass" from DCrainmaker.

Ever since Google took over Fitbit, you would think things would improve but no. Things got much worse in terms of overall quality (build quality, materials, touch display, sensor accuracy). This is straight from the mouths of previous Fitbit owners (who I must say were being optimistic when they decided they were happy with their older Fitbit) who compared the old and new current generations of the same line up side by side.

    • Brought a fitbit charge 3 each for myself and partner, partner had issues with the Fitbit app and iPhone compatibility so I used both over the last couple of years
Picked for the small form factor and long battery, battery lasted about a week between charges and worked well until the screens died and couldn't be seen
App worked fine with Samsung and had all the features, upgraded to the charge 5 about a week ago, app still works the same

  • Ringconn? (in budget)
    Oura?

    • Thanks i will check

  • Xiaomi Amazfit bip does what you want and they are cheap! and the battery can last months before needing to charge if you don't use Bluetooth all the time.

      Any deal on that ?

  • The Garmin Vivoactive 4/4s are decent devices for all those things. A bit over your budget, but they’re currently $300ish at most places, down from $500 RRP.

    • Or Instinct, depends on style OP wants. But garmin for sure.

    • I think OP didn't mention GPS, so the cheaper model Fitness tracker (step track and heart rate sensor only) will do the job.

The only thing you would miss out on with a Fitness tracker I think is NFC pay, some GPS watches have that feature but most Fitness trackers don't.

  • +1

Go with Mi Band 7, 68$ and it does everything including blood oxygen and sleep tracking. I compared it with an apple watch series 8 and the measurments were not that different. It works with both iphone and androids.

  • I wouldn't accept advice from people simply recommending the cheapo band they bought for $60. Not all fitness trackers are accurate/reliable.

Check out reviews from this guy, who does scientific tests of most smart watches/fitness trackers on the market:

    • Is there a model that he recommends under $200?

  • Huawei Band 6 or 7 - great price, 2 week battery life, also reminds you every hour to get up and move around if you haven't, has suggested workout routines at home.

  • GT 2e Huawei. Does all the above you mentioned OP.
