Flybuys 2022 Summary Points Earned

Thanks to some advice from ozbargain over a year ago I opened a second flybuys account.

My second account had less spent but over twice as many bonus points as the primary account. It pays to pretend you aren't loyal! Now I'm wondering whether I branch out with a third account.

Over the two accounts it equates to about 7% back in flybuys which seems quite good for not much effort.

How did others go?

  • How do you check your annual summary? I cant seem to find it…

    • +1

They sent an email out at about 11pm 12/01. At least for the two accounts I have.

    Congratulations! You're officially a points-scoring over-achiever. You collected 29 more points in 2022 than in 2021.

I guess I'm consistent. I have 4 kids so spend a lot of money at the supermarkets, not sure how people earned 200k+ points.

    • 200k+ points

Bonus points ..4 week spend etc
      3,376/311k bonus

      • That's impressive

        • 4 week offers can only boost to 51x pts at most, excluding product bonus pts.

He achieved 93x pt per $1 spent. He must have done something well over 120x pts per $1 spent.

  • +2

I'm pretty happy with my points split, 8k standard points and 53k bonus points.

  • Only got on flybuys in late Oct
    2300 standard points 8000 bonus

Best bonus ratio we've seen, nice

I collected 37,416 points in 2022, 20,366 more points than 2021. Total haul of 5,138 standard points, and 32,278 bonus points. This is a substantial improvement over past years, primarily from exploiting the 'spend $x per week for 4 weeks to receive bonus points', which Coles offered me a few times in 2022. Most of my shopping is done at Woolies, as they're more convenient, but I only earnt $90 in Woolies Everyday Rewards, versus $185 in Coles FlyBuy Dollars.

    • +1

Def the bonus offers is what works the best and only using the card when they are available. I got 3,777 standard points and 82,798 bonus points

2023 year of the gift card promos..

    • I think you may not receive this email for being over 12 mths inactive. It is possible that your membership may be already canceled if there was no redemption activity, either.

  • +1

You scored a total points haul of 13,025 standard points and 125,194 bonus points
You scored a total points haul of 10,891 standard points and 139,914 bonus points
You scored a total points haul of 11,198 standard points and 108,523 bonus points

Top 1% in my Suburb, State and 2% Australia wide for the first account.

  • +2

You scored a total points haul of 2,636 standard points and 85,788 bonus points.

You activated, you scanned, you stashed those points.

Only scanned if there was a promo involved.

  • I am also in the top 1% in Australia.

I saved around $1000 this year through Flybuys and Coles Mastercard.

But i spent around $8000 just in Coles.

If I had shopped in Aldi probably would have saved more without all the flybuys rigamarole…….
But cant get everything I want and particular brands in Aldi and I hate going to multiple supermarkets.

For the people with more than one account (other than the family linked card situation) :-

    • Do you take Flybuys Dollars or convert to Velocity? Are there issues transferring points from two or more accounts to the same Velocity Account? The Velocity points are more important for me.

    • I take it you use a different email address for each card, but what about physical address?

    • How do you pay for the groceries? With the level of sophistication of the POS terminals now at Coles and Woolies, they can suss you out via your credit and debit cards, and easily work out you're one person using two different accounts.

Just a bit concerned about going down this path given the number of ways Coles can identify you as using two different accounts. Currently I have one card and my partner has one card linked to my account.

    • At least your partner should have their own account. I usually pay with GC's and keep them separate for different FB accounts.

  • Total points earned in our household were 507,946. We had a pretty good run last year.

  • Top 4%…but 100,656 points. 5611 standard points and 95,045 bonus points. I only have one card and I rarely buy gift cards. Just goes to show you don't need a heap of cards to earn the points…just keep checking your offers and stock up on long life products during these periods..

    • if you have more cards to double, triple, or quad-triple your points, it is a true ozbrgainer.

  • +1

You scored a total points haul of 4,493 standard points and 335,132 bonus points

You scored a total points haul of 5,031 standard points and 283,437 bonus points

Mostly coles. My promos were pretty good last year.

    • That is a really good amount of bonus points for the spend.

      • +1

Yeah I pretty much shop with a calculator and stop when I hit my targeted amount. Weeks where there’s no promo I don’t visit Coles.

        • That's really extraordinary for 65x pts per $1 spent in that huge amount if you do not have credit card, insurance, telco etc signup bonus pts in them.

Someone only shops for 4 weeks offers can only achieve 51x pts at most.

Someone only shops for double dipping glitch can achieve 81x, but not that often opportunities as I know.

Someone only shops for 3rd party giftcard pts promo can generally achieve 21x pts. In other words, giftcard purchase lowers your overall pts return here!

        • Yes, that is exactly what I do too.

  • do you guys convert flybuys pts to velocity pts when they is an offer e.g. 2x velocity pts? Is it worth it?

  • You collected 62,204 points in 2022
You scored a total points haul of 4,715 standard points and 57,489 bonus points
I bought a Vegemite Scroll 18 times lol
