Robot Vacuum Cleaners - Ecovac/RoboRock/Roomba

Hey guys,

Just thought I would ask people about their opinions about their experience with their Robot Cleaners!

I have Ecovac T8+, had it about 6 months now maybe

Pros: -

Does an excellent job in vacuuming the carpets
Auto scheduling is good for me
Support is very good!

Cons: -

Does not avoid cables
Brush gets tangled easily
Auto empty is almost non-existent, doesn't do much
Hairs gets stuck often
Mopping function is just dragging it around

Jeez, could go on, but i'm thinking of upgrading to S7 Max + or Roomba or Omni, big jump in the $$, but maybe worth it.

Anyone here with any feedback? The auto emptying is a big bummer for me as I have to constantly empty it with one cat :(

    The S7 can still get tangled on cables as it doesn't have a camera for avoiding them, you'd need the S7 maxv for the camera too. Or you can wait another couple months for the recently announced S8 to come out which is essentially an improved S7 maxv.

    I had the budget Viomi s9 ($500) so cant compare to your model. It started playing up (slow, fast battery not charging) so got the S7+. ("+" = auto empty dock)

    From what I read and the price difference the S7+ was the way for me. If money is no objective ($1.1k vs 2.3k(?)) it was a no brainer.

    We have 2 dogs and the auto empty dock is a must. We vacuum everyday and only have to empty once a week

    Some have said the roller on the s7 was no good on carpet and to buy previous models (we dont have carpet so dont know) No more dog fluff tangles with the rubber head (instead of the brush).

    The mop has an agitating action and from what ive read is the best on the market - we dont use the mopping function.

    I like the mapping functions and Home Assistant integration has just been released (yet to try it out)

    I have been using T9+ for more than a year and happy with it. This can avoid the obstacles and go around but mine often got stuck if any charging cable was left in the corner of the room, otherwise no issues. Mopping in this is great as well and not simply dragging wet cloth around the house. As with any robot vacuums it also misses out on the corners.

    There is a little hack for the T8+ I found out recently.

    Tape half the exhaust on one side inside the dustbin.

    I have two Shibas and this really helps. I also have it set for daily vacuum.

    The other trick is the automate it in sections so it empties more often.

    As for mopping I got the ozmo pro attachment. Only 30-40$ on AliExpress if you find it on sale. Gives a much better mop, but still not good enough for stains.

        they are pre-covid fur babies.

        I think the going rate these days is more than double what I paid.

              @CyberMurning: @ChiMot I got lucky and chose to study a doctorate in hurt fee fees, the pays great the patients are the worst
