Listing error but received the item

Hi,

Ordered an wireless headset. Company sent it out and will be receiving today. They contacted me and said it was a listing error and should be for the wired.

Gave me the option to return to sender for full refund or to keep the wired for $20 discount.

Edit: Received wireled ones will RTS, thought I received the wireless ones and wanted to keep them.

Also waited 13 days for shipment whilst their website said 1 day.

How likely you reckon they got bikie contacts?

    • None maybe triad but they're nerds (Online computer store 5 locations)

  • How much extra do you have to pony up?

    • Didn't ask. They don't even have it listed on their website anymore for the wireless one. JB Hi fi selling $100 more than what I paid.

It really depends for me on whether it was a small biz or a large retailer. I tend to be more sympathetic for smaller businesses.

Either way, if they want it back from you, can let them know that someone can come and collect it from you at a time that suits you and you won’t be printing out a return label or taking it to a post office to repost.

    • idk - if FHG decides to return it, probably less effort to just chuck it into a road side red mail box than to literally sit at home all day waiting for a delivery guy. Many couriers don't do timed delivery anymore.

If it was something a pain in the ass to move like a big sofa or fridge or something then fair enough.

You’ve missed the point. JJJAAR is saying that if the company wants the item returned then they need to provide ALL the effort. The OP is under zero obligation to “sit at home all day”. They tell the company a date and time and it’s on them to collect it. the OP is also not under any obligation to go out of their way to a post office or collection point etc.

        • Thanks jaejae that’s exactly what I meant. If the business cannot organise something that is convenient for OP, then OP shouldn’t have to do anything.

Chances are the business will find this too hard, as as Jimothy has stated, couriers don’t do timed delivery, so they’ll give up and let OP keep it for what they paid.

  • if you went silent ever since, what will happens?

  • What Headset?

  • If Fat Horny Ghosts can feel bad, then you can just tell them you'll pay the difference - especially if it's like $10 or $20 bucks - to settle it.

If you don't do anything, they're unlikely to do anything anyway.

      but what if they doooooooooooooooo

@Fat Horny Ghost ARE YOU STILL ALIVE MATE

Well, I've learnt something new today! 🤣

Sitting here imagining what I would do if I was a fat horny ghost…

  • Tell the you already open up and wrote your name on it.

Can I just keep the wireless one due to already receiving the listing error?

Are you sure they sent the wireless one and not the wired one?

    • +3

yeah this bit confused me in the post:

…or to keep the wired for $20 discount.

To me it sounds like there's a strong possibility they've sent you the wired one.

To me it sounds like there was a pricing error on the wireless which OP ordered.
Store sent out the wireless at the wrong (wired) price.
Store is now asking to either return it for a full refund, or pay an extra $80 to keep the wireless.

OP is now asking if he can ignore all that and just keep it.

        • +1

          Where do you see $80?

          • @foxmulder: OP mentioned the wireless costs roughly $100 more than the wired and store is offering $20 discount

            • @Ryanek: Op says JB Hi fi selling $100 more than what I paid.

    you misunderstood their intention.

i believe they sent you the wired version.

Sounds like they sent you the wired version.

Got better item for cheaper…… isn't that the whole ethos of Ozbargain?

  • Also waited 13 days for shipment whilst their website said 1 day.

Did it take them 13 days to ship it or did it take 13 days for it to arrive? Most places say they send it out within 24 hours but once they do that it's at the mercy of Auspost or whoever the courier is (also if it's arriving today you ordered it Dec 31st, so it's not really reasonable to expect it to ship before the 3rd of Jan).

I'm with all the above though, sounds like they sent you the wired ones going by your wording there.

Glad I'm not the only one cunfused by the situation - was wired or wireless sent to OP?

  • sounds to me like they are sending you the wired ones. you can send them back for full refund, or keep them and they'll give you a $20 credit as a "sorry for the mix up" gift.

  • If you're really intent on keeping them - don't respond to their comms and ask them if they want a used item back

    • They already have his money so they probably prefers that it keeps it

Ok I just checked their email I got the wired one. Time to hunt for decent new wireless headphone deals.
