Bought GA Day Tickets on Women's Final Night Unknowingly, Will There Be Anything to See during The Day?

Hi Ozbargain,

Unfortunately I've bought 3 GA day tickets for the Aus Open on the womens final night

Not realising that they may be no games/matches to watch during the day

Is anyone who's familiar with the Aus Open know what we could watch/do at the Aus Open for the whole day as the tickets let us in from open to close

Or am I better off trying to get a refund or cut my losses?

Thanks in advanced! :D

            • @jv: Hopefully there's enough shaded areas to keep us from getting heat stroke, do you know if we are allowed to leave and enter as we please?

I'd assume so, but not sure…

      • "Collingwood football club will have training across the road"
Will they move you on for booing too?
        .

  • Might be some doubles action? Otherwise, I assume any remaining players will possibly having some hit ups, etc.

    • I'd love to see some doubles you think there'd be some games?

I guess seeing some big names train would be pretty cool

      thanks for the suggestion!

      Might be some doubles action?

      You wish…

      • +1

Interesting. Might see a few double-fisted backhands …

There will be no doubles action unless it is the juniors. The doubles championships are played on Rod Laver Arena. There will be players practising and the practice schedule is advertised on the AO website. Remember there are very few players remaining and lots of fans.

      From the website
Fans who buy a ground pass or Rod Laver Arena stadium ticket on any of the three days can upgrade to enter Kia Arena for the Finals Festival for an extra $5.

I bet you were wondering why the Women's final's tickets were so cheap. lol

    • +2

We were stunned GA tickets on the 21st were $75 and on the 29th were $23 thought we hit the jackpot haha instead we look like fools

      • +2

        instead we look like fools

there'll be a few others there.

maybe you can make friends and have a laugh…

        • +3

I'm ordering tickets now so I can meet the op and have a laugh.

Shouldn't be to hard to spot the threesome.

          • +2

@Muzeeb: for $23 I'm tempted to join you

          • +1

            @Muzeeb: @JimB
Only $19 if you go after 5pm…

            • +2

              @jv: Bargain!

              I'll bring my racquets.

          • +2

            @Muzeeb:

            the threesome

            or doubles action…

            • @jv: The doubles action will all be in the ice baths across the road, after the Wobblers footy training finishes.

              • @jackspratt: At Punt Rd?

They won't let me in after the incident with the vacuum cleaner and the pilchards.

      • +1

I'd bring some tennis racquets and explain to security that you paid $23 each for use of the outside courts for the day.

You might even get a few free balls

    • +2

They are GA tickets, not tickets to see the final.

Women's final tickets start at $319 per person.

      • Yeah, we were just hoping to see some games during the day but didn't realise there won't be any games during the day as we booked on the same night as the womens finals

        • +2

you can watch the game on the big screen there and hear the crowd cheering behind the wall…

          • @jv: Think we could've seen it for free at Fed Square which I think is a bigger screen haha oh well live and learn

      • +1

Lol. Looks like the Collingwood FC training will be the OPs highlight of the day.

        • highlight of the day.

That would be my highlight for the month !!!

        • Haha yep looks like it

        • +1

Op could count the teeth on the Collingwood supporters who turn up to watch training, he should have enough fingers to do the job.

          • +1

@brendanm: Why did the Collingwood supporter cross the road?

            To get to Centrelink.

  • There'll be wheelchair tennis to watch

    Good news!

Customers with a Women's Singles final ticket can have access to their seat from 1pm on Saturday 26 January, but Ground Pass holders have access to Rod Laver Arena for the two Junior final matches before the stadium is cleared prior the Women's Singles final.

Edit: Just realised there is no Saturday 26 January in 2023, so this was for a past year. We'll see if they continue that offer this year. But there are no Rod Laver arena day tickets so they might.

    From https://ausopen.com/visit/tournament-info/junior-championshi…

These are 13 to 18 year olds - but they can be quite competitive.

Otherwise it's no longer "go woke, go broke," it's "go woke, get a ****load of tennis" because in the second week there is:

    • Wheelchair doubles, singles and quad singles
    • Soundball
    • Legends
    • AO Glam Slam

Regrettably you'll miss the Glam Slam:

      • +2

Haha, was okay didn't have access to Margaret court so didn't get to see wheelchair mens singles, but saw about 40 mins of the jr womens singles finals and then spent about 30 mins watching the Deaf and hard of hearing games then walked around then spent the day in the city hahaha too hot to stay around there for so long
