Nashville style portion or Tegel Louisiana is $7 for 1 kg in Woolworths (special deal, half price)

    • +12

These are chicken breast fillets for burgers which are far better than the pieces. Currently unavailable nationwide at Woolworths

      • +1

Tegal Louisiana Style Burger 600g is available at my local WW for $14

      • +2

Anyone know why Woolies has been sold out for so long? Just the regular supply issues in this “just pretend Covid disappeared when it really hasn’t” world or something else?

        • +1

Got some yesterday at Woolies. My kid who works at W says they are just super popular when on special.

        • they blew up on tiktok

    • +8

The Woolies ones are 600g for the burgers, not 1KG.

  • Anyone comment on how they come out in the airfryer? Obviously never going to be like KFC, but is it close?

    • +5

If they are anything like their other ones at Woolies then they are excellent in the air fryer

    • +3

Amazing. Not the same as KFC but arguably as good.

    • +2

I think they’re better than kfc as you know the moment you’ve cooked it you’re going to eat it. Hasn’t been sitting the warmer for who knows how long

      • +1

I bought the 4 piece hack deal from KFC the other day. I could swear they are using pigeons, the pieces were tiny. 2 Drums stick, one thigh and one centre breast, all were tiny as.

Tegel @ half price from Woolies is definitely better.

    • If you leave them in too long they can dry out a bit but they are crispy in the air fryer.

      • +1

Definitely crisper in the air fryer than KFC. Nashville too spicy for me buy others I know love them.

26$ bucks for frozen chicken crumbed screw that, screw that.

    • lol, it's $21 and for 1.5kg of ready to cook burger patties

      • -4

That's even worse, it should be 13$ but you do you

  • -1

tegel chicken pieces were terrible- had to return the pack for a refund

    • You can do that with Costco with frozen foods?

      • I've returned Frozen mango before so don't see why it would be any different

      • Its Costco, you can return pretty much anything, even opened.

They make their money from membership fees, the margins on the actual products are low by retail standards. So they do everything to make sure you renew the membership. Also, they keep track of your every purchase and every return, so they know if you are abusing the returns deliberately.

        • I guess I’m just thinking from a hygiene point of view, kinda like buying undies at Calvin Klein they say you can’t return after purchase in case you’ve used it, I compare this with food if you return something then can’t really sell it again. I guess this can be the same with Woolies or coles? Or can you return something that bad?

Oh I bought a alcohol from Aldi that was shit but didn’t think I could return it coz I’ve opened up the bottle and drank some of it 🤷‍♂️

          • @prankster: I've returned alcohol to Aldi. Bought some "Irish Cream" imitation. Was soo sweet couldn't drink it. Even my daughter with her sweet tooth couldn't touch it. They happily refunded it.

            • @tonydav: Oh thanks! Will try to refund

            • @tonydav: Tried my local, edmondson park NSW got denied , hmmm should I try another store?

        • Also, they keep track of your every purchase

          And sell it.

The info would be gold considering, AFAIK, you need to prove who you are to get the membership (with photo) and can't enter the store without it being checked.

How well that's checked is up to the person checking, of course, but still…

          • @the discombobulated panda: Relax, they don't "sell" your data, they use it themselves. Its a bloody gold mine, why would they sell it?

Do you know how many products that Costco acted as test bed before stuff are rolled out to Coleworth?

Those Asian frozen food, popcorners, freeze dried mushrooms etc. They were all test marketed in Costco supported by their free samples, once proven then they are push out to Colesworth.

Those sort of data ain't simply SOLD, its their cash cow.

    • Yeah, the peices a shite.

180c for 24 mins in the AirFryer (turning half-way)
Aldi Brioche burger buns (insides toasted on a pan)
    Fresh iceberg lettuce
    Praise fat free mayo

And prepare to be a better husband, wife, dad, mum and friend. It will change your life…

    • I prefer coleslaw, hi melt cheese and Sriracha mayo. Usually a potato bun too as they're a bit more sturdy
But awesome meal when you're feeling lazy, can whip it up quicker than driving to KFC

      • I'm replicating the Zinger ;)

    • +1

Sub with Costco Brioche bun and Kewpie mayo for me.

    • You can also do a pretty close imitation of a twister with these - chop the burger patty up, add to a wrap with lettuce, bacon, sauce etc,

  • Just checking - these are the spicy ones? Vs the standard ones at Woolworths?

    • There's non spicy ones? Wow - I always thought it was only spicy. Cheers.

      • Woolworths have 2 types of pieces - spicy and non-spicy and also the burgers which are non-spicy. They don't have spicy burger patties.

  • does any1 know how many pieces comes in this Costco - Tegel ones?
And are these better than the Woolies Tegel one?

    • It’s sold by weight, not pieces.

  • Well I bought 4 bags (2 Nash and 2 Lou) from Woolies and cooked one bag of Nashville yesterday along with home made coleslaw.

It was such a bastard-level salty it made me feel ill. It wasn't just salty it was salt.

For the second time ever (the first was ages ago for frozen garlic bread that was all mould) I am taking food back for a refund.

Admittedly this was from Woolies not Costco but I'm doubting there's a difference in "flavour" between the two different formats.

Will never buy it again. No matter what the form. Jesus H Christ. :(

  • FYI for the Tegel Chicken Burger Fillets - My local Costco had zero stock. Apparently a lot of local Cafes bought the stock in bulk. Best to call in advance to see if your store have stock. To make things worse Costco Australia have zero stock on order so whatever is left at stores will be the last available for a while :(

    • To make things worse Costco Australia have zero stock on order so whatever is left at stores will be the last available for a while

This is by far the most infuriating thing about Costco - you go back after a few weeks to buy more of XYZ and they just … don't sell it ever again. WTF.
