Wait for Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra or Get S22 Ultra

Would there be a sale for the s22 ultra when the s23 series gets released on feburary 1? I have samsung education portal, but i missed the 30% sale. I was also thinking about waiting for iphone 15, as I had an iphone 7 before changing to samsung s20fe but iphones are ridiculously expensive. The thing is if i wait, its highly likely that i'll be succumbed to the eternal cycle of waiting for the next latest phone.

  • This should mostly depends on your budget and how long you want to wait.

S22 Ultra will definately be a little cheaper on the new iteration launch and will most likely get all Software updates as S23. Also, unless you are a hard core power user, the s22 ultra hardware is more than capable to take whatever you throw at it.

No doubt S23 will have some sort of hardware improvement but other then battery improvement, Unlikely to significantly improve day to day experience.

having said that, if you are not in hurry, wait for S23 ultra launch offers. In the last years Samsung is known for great trade in deals significantly bringing the price down. If not, look for s22 ultra deals after that point

    • Thanks for your insight. I don't mind waiting, so I'll patiently see what to get. As for my budget around 1300 i guess. Looking for a high end flag ship, that will last me at least 5 years. But my samsung s20fe has been overheating lately and lagging.

      • I'm in same boat and missed 30% discount for Samsung s 22 - 128gb. Have you seen any deals around? Thx

Wow 1 year has already passed, so suxs getting older lol fortunately there are gadgets out there to enjoy

Ok time to search whats out there about the s23

I usually wait till the Samsung expensive range of mobiles age say couple of years and hopefully prices have fallen by close to half, even if i have to buy secondhand though currently im on the Samsung Note 21 5G 512gb, next line up of Notes is the S22 Ultra still to expensive for my likeing especially for the 512gb version

Prices seem to be holding on the high side and new phone prices keep going up, which suxs 👍🤣

Edit: to above yes those Samsung deals certainly help, nothing worse then paying recommended retail prices

To persons below and above, I agree, well still even have the Note 10 and also the Note 20, there certainly both still highend powerful phones, certainly to be considered, agree comes down to budgets what one can afford,..

But I won't say no to a free S23 ULTRA 1 TB Version lolz

First ask yourself - why you need S22/23 Ultra? I am in the same boat as you - S20FE 4G and will change it when dies.

    • My samsung s20fe has been overheating lately and lagging. Has your phone been good? For personal interests, I've been wanting a high end flag ship for a while, for its camera, and also the s pen, I'm a uni student, and on paper it seems like spens gonna be useful, when I'm explaining to my peers.

Overheating only few times (2-3 for 2 years) - when driving, using Waze and playing music.Always in the leather case, so this is not good for cooling off.
I am not playing any games.

      • My Samsung phones over heat when i roll over them while sleeping 🤣, my Note 9 batterv has bubbled but actually to the point were the back pkate has pretty much popped out, well saves me removing the hard way so now easy battery replacement but original battery still functioning

Occasionally though my Note 10 has over heated for no apparent reasons, either rougue app who knows

  • Recntly bought the S22 plus, my last phone was curved, want a flat screen.

There are deals around already, should be more coming.

New phone will likely be more expensive than 22U, to me its crazy money but to each their own.

s23, always get the latest and greatest.

  • I heard the S23 will have only Snapdragon chip. If that's the case, then I would go for the S23 if money isn't an issue, probably wait for a little while until deals are posted here, like 6 months after the release date.

    • S22U is Snapdragon too.

  • I'm on the S21 Ultra and it is a super solid phone. Maybe consider a generation or 2 behind to get a decent deal? I personally can't stomach the release retail pricing of a new flagship but thats just me.

Have you considered other devices? I might get something smaller like the Google Pixel 7. The photography is amazing on this after giving it a hands on try.
