Tourist Refund Scheme - No of Days Calculation and Recent Experience

Few questions about my upcoming travel.

1- Has anyone travelled recently from Melbourne airport and claimed the GST refund? I have been reading that QR codes take longer than manual form filling. Is that still the case?

2- Is there a maximum $ limit to claim tax for?

3- I am travelling solo and have ladies' footwear. Can I claim tax for it?

4- My purchase date is 27 Nov 22 and my travelling date is 26 Jan 23. Does that fall within 60 days? Do i have to include the last day in the calculation which makes it 61 day

Thank you

When you generate a QR code you put in date of purchase and date of travel. If it falls outside the 60 days it will prompt you of such.

    • alright, thanks.

  • QR codes take longer than manual form filling.

doesnt matter what you hear, use QR. forget about manual. ever!

    • QR takes longer yet you are suggesting using QR queue?

  • I claimed at Melbourne in October, didn't pre fill anything. Took 2-3 mins at the counter.

    • was there a queue for 'Pre-filled' ones?

  • stupid question, there was something that i bought and forgot to claim during a travel last year… can there be a backdated claim done on it?

I read somewhere you cant. It has to be within 60 days of your travel.

No. Can only be claimed when you are physically on your way out of the country.

  • Is there a need of name and address if the invoice value is between 300-1000?
