Xbox One S - Wireless Headset Suggestions

I'm after a new headset for my Xbox after my Astro A50's died.

I don't want to spend $500 on another pair and have been looking at the JBL 600 or JBL 610 but to use with Xbox they require use of the 3.5mm audio cable, which doesn't make any sense to me…

Adding in that it seems there's not a lot out there that's compatible with Xbox One?

Anyone else come across this and have a decent valued set of gaming headphones?

  • Have you contacted Astro Gaming? Their headsets have 2 year warranty abroad and sometimes they honour out of warranty issues. Logitech are usually pretty good with this. No harm reaching out and try your luck.

Steelseries Arctis range are most popular for gaming, specifically the Arctis 7 series, have a look at their offerings.

    • I got the A50's through a rewards program with work. That would be close to 4 years ago now :(

I think it's the battery in the headset, thinking of trying to take them apart. The A50's are so good and comfy

Seems a bit tricky to replace but worth a go if you're happy to solder: https://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Astro+A50+Battery++Replacement/…

I would still give it a go contacting them, they might have a battery repair program for a small fee.

        • Thanks! I might reach out to Astro, i'd be happy to pay a fee to get them fixed, only because i'm not 100% sure it's the battery that's the issue

I just plug my normal BT headphones into the headphone jack on the controller. Dont even notice the cord, not like you are moving around a whole lot.

    • Yeah i'm using a wired old pair in the interim and just miss having the wireless freedom haha. Big 1st world problem

I’ve got the turtle beach gen 2 stealth 700, and they do the job and are comfy as. Got them for $155 thru Amazon when a sale was on (note these aren’t the MAX vers recently released). Had the turtlebeach 800x wireless for ages and they were amazing, the sound direction was unreal. In switching to new ones I discovered the old ones had DTS7.1 and the sound in new ones wasn’t as good..but I bought DTS sound app thru Xbox store and Noticed a big difference (can trial it for free for a week, after which time you can purchase it at a slightly reduced price)

    • Yeah sweet! I haven't seen much of the Turtle Beaches so will check it out. I've always seen the DTS Sound App and thought it was going to be a waste but will check it out. Thanks!
