Help Me Get Wi-Fi Coverage to The Granny Flat

Moving soon to a house that has a granny flat in the backyard. planning on converting the granny flat into an office to WFH
The house is double bricked and slightly large so I'm expecting the wifi signal to be low.

How can I increase the wifi signal?
I currently have a Belong 25 Mbps starter plan with their modem,

    physical cable

Nothing is going to be beat running an ethernet cable down there and setting up a separate wifi router.

Alternatively you can spend a lot on wifi dish antennas to beam it over. But, go wired, make it work.

    1 - Physical Cable
2 - Point to Point Link between the house and the granny flat with an access point in the Granny Flat.

Both require a bit of work and not always plug + play solutions.

        You mean that comment there?

        • Yeah :)

    • Thanks for your input @geekcohen

I was thinking of running a cable to the granny and setup a modem, will this be sufficient?

Alternatively look into mesh wifi 6 systems.

The Netgear Orbi range has enormous range for signal and performance. A 2 or 3 node will do nicely.

Assuming there is power to the granny flat a WiFi EoP adapter may be cheapest and easiest. The power needs to be on the same circuit. Some time it is, sometimes it's not.

      LOL.

      Electricity doesn't change circuits willy-nilly…

    • This is what I do. Got a Plp2000. The garage is serviced on a separate circuit on the RCD so it doesn't need to be the same even if it is ideal.

I then run ethernet from the EoP to an Asus Ai mesh as backhaul so the garage has meshed wifi. This really helps to not break the connection when walking back and forth.

I used Tenda Nova Mesh WiFi System (MW6) working well

  • How far is the distance to be covered?

Mesh system between two nodes could probably be 10m direct line or even more depending on the system. Knowing the distance would actually help a lot with finding a solution.

    ubiquiti

    • Whilst I do agree, it can be costly and you kinda got to know what you are doing.
