  • But it’s Hisense though

If you read reviews, Hisense & TCL are always come in close to those bigger brand names who only have 1 year warranty instead of 3.

Thanks for the confirmation. Was on the fence about getting a hisense tv for a fraction of the price of the branded ones!

      • Last I heard we and sometimes Europe were getting the scrap compared to the US models, at least regarding LCDs. Couldn't say for the OLEDS, though it's still possible they still source the weaker performing panels from the mother glass.

    • +1

I'd pay for the "better" brands if they provide 3 years warranty to match Hisense & TCL. If they're confident, why NOT?!

I have a 2019 Hisense 55 inch 4k Oled and its been faultless. Paid $1200 for it at the time.

Have my PC and consoles hooked up to it .

I just bought a new 65' u7hau for around 900 and it's great. The os is a tiny bit slow but it's still better than turning the Xbox on. The picture is great, the star rating is great and it comes with 3 year warranty. I've been able to hit 4k at 120 fps as well.

    • Have bought a couple of hisense tvs, have matched samsung/lg panels that cost twice as much. Great value brand making a name for itself over the last 10 years. Just my 2c though.

Good deal, 65" also available with 5.1 system in the videopro deal below (running their own 15% deal)

    Hisense X8HAU 65" OLED 4K TV (2022) + Hisense AX5100G 5.1 Channel $2,282 https://www.videopro.com.au/product/hisense-65x8hau-ax5100g/

    Also the LG CS 55

    LG CS 55" Self Lit OLED 4K Ultra HD Smart TV (2022) + LG S80QY $2,125 https://www.videopro.com.au/product/oled55cspsa-s80qy/

Best previous s80qy deal $645 so seems a decent deal. Getting the CS 55 for effectively $1500

    • The CS was $1400 a few weeks ago, albeit without the soundbar.

      • Good deal. The 42" c2 was ~12 before that. hopefully we'll see those prices again to make room for the 2023 stuff.

Does Hisense still have a garbage app interface that doesn't have 10 Play, 9 Now or 7 plus?

    • Get the refurb Fetch Mighty that was posted to OzB for $80 then just set it to record all the shows you want. You can install all those apps to it but will have better definition and can fast forward the ads if you record them.

    • Definitely want a NVIDIA shield plugged into it

My last Hisense (albeit the UH series not the XH) had quite a few issues that eventually lead to it's return. Subsequently purchased the LG CS and have been extremely happy with it - definitely worth the premium if this is going to be your primary TV.

  • Hisense is bringing the new miniLED ranges in 2023, lets hope the prices will be resonable.

    • +11

Prices generally are, only issue is the level of quality in their AU product versus their US equivalent &/or the competitors equivalent.

      • Yeah, lets ditch the Hisense and Go for TCL, I feel like TCL is better quality.

I like my Hisense q8 but in retrospect I’d rather pay more and get one of the better tvs . I am really fussy about picture quality and the corner cutting really shows on Hisense tvs.
If you’re not fussy, these are the best tvs on the market but when you look the details, there’s always something. Motion isnt as good, too much fringing, too much glow in hdr content etc

    • I have a Q7, and i agree on the glow, but I've found motion to be fine, as long as literally all of the motion smoothing/processing is turned off, and I also had to disable fast boot as for some reason that kept turning it on (even though the menu said smoothing was off, it was on).

      • I have turned off all motion smoothing but then motion is choppy, it’s mostly evident in panning drone shots and when watching soccer games. It’s painful to watch 24 fps content.

        • Interesting, on my Q7, with all smoothing off, I don't get choppy motion, but maybe it doesn't handle sport/free to air well as I have never tried either. For 4k Bluray, 4K streaming and Gaming I don't find motion choppy. With smoothing on I found it literally unwatchable, with constant artifacting (But that seems to be the case with every brand of TV when I go to someone's house and smoothing is on and others don't seem to notice).

I used to be a big fan of Hisense but now I would say NO to all Hisense until they stop selling us the inferior products while same model numbered in USA and Europe have far better specification.

I don’t have the time to be a detective to dig out the difference between them to find the true specification for each SKU as I am spending too much time on Ozbargain for something else already.

Get a TCL if your budget is tight. (I got c835 to replace my 5 year old Hisense can’t be happier)

    • +1

They did change the model names last year. That AU at the end is Australia.

      • +5

Yes I am aware of that but just adding AU at the end of model number is still misleading. Why we even need this AU ONLY crap model. Give us the like-for-like the whole world gets.

Imagine Apple spelling iPhone 14 pro AU with inferior hardware without telling …. Nah

    • +1

This plus the crappy vidaa software. Just use Android tv and be done with it. Tcl all day long at this price point.

Jumping onboard with the negative Hisense commentary, I purchased the 65R8 at the end of 2019 (thanks OzB) and required 3 visits to fix my TV in the first 4 months. Finally, the replaced the TV with another 65R8 six months after I purchased it. The TV finally died last month, just towards the end of the 3 year warranty. I must say Hisense's customer service is excellent and are refunding me the original amount I paid in store credit at the original place of purchase. However, I cannot recommend Hisense TV's given that the number of issues I encountered and the fact that their TV's are not the same as their US counterparts of the same model number. In this regard, please consider any review you find on RTing's of a Hisense TV with a grain of salt.

    • +1

Hisense is complete and utter trash and the entire company is corrupt.
Just look what happened to their previous Customer Service Manager.
      https://www.channelnews.com.au/hisense-goes-to-supreme-court…
Staff are blatantly told to lie to customers and nothing in their spec sheet is correct.

  • +2

The whole inferior hardware for AU really rubs wrong on me to ever buy Heisen until they fix it.

What would Ozbargain recommend as the best 75inch under 1.6k? is TCL the way to go?

    • +1
      • thanks will look into it

    • +2

I feel like TCL is better quality. Go for TCL.

      • +1

Thanks, leaning towards c727. Which the 835/825 was in stock at TGG - looks like good value

        • +1

100% TCL is your best bang for buck.
Hisense isn't worth taking a shit on.

        • +2

I got the TCL 65C835 miniLED and I really like it.

  • If anyone doesnt need the soundbar It's also $1494.00 at myer which has 11% unlimited cashback. ~$1345 though given some of the comments and the prices we've seen on the cx's probably still not worth it.
