Difference between These Kingston FURY Beast DDR4 RGB RAM Models?

Hi All,

I'm looking to buy DDR4 memory for a budget gaming build and came across these 2

  1. https://www.mwave.com.au/product/kingston-fury-beast-rgb-32g…
    Model# KF432C16BBAK2/32
    Price: $165

  2. https://www.mwave.com.au/product/kingston-fury-beast-rgb-32g…
    Model# KF432C16BB1AK2/32
    Price: $189

Can anyone explain what's the difference between these 2 models?
I spotted that one is CL16 and the other is CL17, is that really the only difference?
Does it even matter?

  • Seems to be CL16 vs CL17 in the specs…

    Does it even matter?

If you need to ask, then just get the cheaper one.

  • Does your mobo support DDR5, or are you intending to upgrade? You can get 2x16GB DDR5 kits in the low-mid $200s now. IMO, I'd spring for the extra ~$50.

    • Nope, need DDR4.
But that looks like a good find !!!

  • If you're using AMD Ryzen or have a gaming spec aiming for high frame rates then you want the CL16 RAM.

With having said that I don't know how good Kingston Fury is. Could some funky stuff they've done to achieve the clock speeds etc.

  • They're both c16, the more expensive one appears to have 16-18-18 timings and the cheaper 16-20-20. The c16 in the model number tells you this - KF432 "C16" BBAK2 = cl 16. Look at the spec sheets on Kingston to confirm. Also I think the more expensive one is dual rank.

But yeah, DYOR to confirm and see if that makes a difference to you. I don't think it will. More importantly - I'm sure i've much better prices on 32gb DDR4 3200 kits? Prices don't seem very good at all I don't think
