I can see through this deal.

PS: TicTacArea legit, takes a few weeks if you don't opt for express post though.

    • Second this. Bought my ga-b2100 from them late last year and they had the best price on it by a fair bit at the time

Casioaks are so played out. So many better and more interesting G-Shocks and Baby Gs

    • +1

      Care to expand?

I just bit the bullet on a Bulova Marine Star Chrono, I have no idea with watches but that one looked pretty good.

Was also tempted to try grab the previous Casio (clear) deal where people were commenting on the band yellowing and saw some cool mod you could buy to switch out the band and face-cover thingo.

I never really understood the G-shock craze either, thought most looked hella childish and plasticiky. Only rarely have I ever randomly seen one look good.

Maybe also list a few you think are decent G-shockers? 😅

      • +2

Look, I'm a massive snob, but re: Casioaks, I remember being at my friend's place (he's a distribibutor) when they first came out we thought it was the coolest shit ever. I remember there being only 4 or so colours, I bought 3 and modded one into a "Royal Broke". And the prices where going upwards of $300 becuase of the scarcity and hype. Then Casio does what all companies do with a good thing a release a 100+ different variations in a few years. Hence, me saying they are "played out".

I have a GBX100 on hold, and just bought 3 Baby-Gs: BGA-280-3A, MSG-S200-4A and MSG-400G-1A2, I have no problem buying women's clothes, shoes and now watches, Baby-Gs, to me, are a lot more interesting right now.

I just buy G-Shocks and Baby-Gs for fun, the real super nerds are @blacksmithnpc and @tdw

        • +3

i don't know about super nerd, since WatchNerd holds that title, but i'll happily accept my standard nerd accolades :)

          • @tdw: You, @G-rig and @blacksmithnpc are total G-Shock nerds. I don't think @Watchnerd cares about them at all

            • +1

@rosebank: Stop it.. every watch collector likes G-Shocks.

I have no problem buying women's clothes, shoes and now watches

              How un-nerdy of you, lol

              • @G-rig: There have been a lot of >35° days lately and shorts just don't cut it, even the moisture wicking sports ones. I want to start rocking skirts because imagine the breeze

            • +1

@rosebank: "I don't think @Watchnerd cares about them at all"

I know you might be exaggerating, but oh no I think WatchNerd appreciates the occasional Casio. If anything I feel he is pretty indifferent about types of watches and sees them pretty equally. This is mainly based on his "I post watches, not men's or women's watches" comment. I think he's opinion is anyone can like/wear any watch and is ok with that.

Regarding me being a G-shock nerd, yeah I will accept that title here. But really I am just a long term Digital Casio/G-shock owner who is faithful to them because they are easy to work on, durable and have never done me wrong (which is why I was surprised at the comment that said they were having issues with the G9000 buttons).
If anything I just know some unique aspects of some models and can give detailed tips on how to open/close modern G-shocks and changing the batteries by yourself.

              • @harshbdmmaster718: That wasn't a knock on WatchNerd, just my very limitied observations. I have a few vintage Casios which survived my youth, so I appreciate them and do have a few newer ones, my favourite being a silver one with a fluted bezel that looks like Datejust.

                • @rosebank: Yeah I know what you meant. It's a play on words lol such as NERD.

By the way to possibly send you down another road, I discovered there is a Nautilus GA2100 mod. Doesn't look anything like the Nautilus watch, but it does give off a different vibe to the traditional Casibroak mod. The taller left and right sides of the octagon and no screws giving it a more refined look.

Also I checked out some of the Baby-G's you said you got in your original comment above. They look good I can get behind those styles.
Especially the MSG-400G-1A2, I like how the case looks like it is split in two very unique. Even it's bigger brother didn't get that look. https://www.casio.com/content/dam/casio/product-info/locales…

Some G-shock's/Baby-G's just look too shocking and don't look good IMO, but I can see you have some taste.

                  • @harshbdmmaster718: I found an all black Nautilus GA2100 mod and already have a blacked-out donor watch. I think I'm gonna do it.

The G-MS looks way better than the G-Shock variant.

but I can see you have some taste.

Thank you. Most people think I look homeless.

@rosebank: "The G-MS looks way better than the G-Shock variant."

Totally agree. The G-shock variant looks too "tough" and bulky. The Baby-G G-MS version looks much more refined.

By the way, I know you must have already satisfied that G-shock craving by now on kogan. But thought I would give you a heads up on some GA100 variants that are all around half price from Amazon Warehouse (people who used Free returns for whatever reason they didn't like the look or negative display I think).

One downside I noticed for this model in spec is the 2 year battery life from the small CR1220. Dimensions are 55 × 51.2 × 16.9 mm.

I swear there were a few more models with Amazon warehouse stock last night but some must have been picked up.

Reason I suggest these models to you is I remember you pointing out a previously posted watch not being a "true" chrono. But later you mentioned buying it anyway lol. So I thought you might be interested in the "chrono" aesthetic of the GA100's.

                      • @harshbdmmaster718: I already bought the nautilus all black no screw mod from ali, so I think I'm done with black G-Shocks. I already have a black solar mudman and couple others. And I have a GA-140-6A which I think is a variation of the GA100.

Yeah, the chrono thing was nothing; I knew it wasn't a chrono so commented for the OP to revise the post. I was gonna buy it anyway

                        • @rosebank: All good. I just managed to scrounge up two more Warehouse deals, still under the minimum 10 in stock for a deal but hopefully mods can use some discretion.

        • +2

100+ variations? That's crazy. But I appreciate the nostalgia. Also, I really like that "Royal Broke" mod! That's wicked. Someone else posted below a camo face version I think would look SICK in that mod though.

I like your taste though, and was lookin' through some BabyG's and they look soo cute! I'm a bigger guy though so I think they may not suit my wrist.. 😅

          • +2

@WasBargain: do it! i'd to see more guys rocking baby-g's

          • +2

@WasBargain: Dude, I have 7" wrists, Some Baby Gs are pretty big, like this one: https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/onlineshoppingnetwork-casio-bab…

I was very close to buying that one, but I've been spending too much.

Rock that shit bro. Do it for the culture.

            • +1

@rosebank: Guessing I'd have to do a bit of googling to find out which other models have the bigger faces? I saw the black one in the same line, didn't mind it, but going back to the white one looked a lot better. Probably sleeker without the contrast from the black to pink. Do the white watches yellow at all? Guessing the material makes it easy to clean regularly anyway.

Speaking of culture, I picked up a Bulova yesterday as my first starter watch and learnt that Frank Sinatra used to use Bulova watches, if not in whole part because they apparently sponsored a show he had.. 😅

              • +1

                @WasBargain: https://www.kogan.com/au/shop/?q=baby+g+casio

I looked through all my G-Shocks and I have teal, red, purple, clear, but no white. I haven't worn my clear one so don't know about yellowing. I have nfi about white, but I have a Seiko Tuna with a white strap that I've worn on short trips, gone to the beach and worn quite a bit with no disclouration. Look in the link above, plenty to chose from, with a lot almost hitting 50mm height.

But do a quick google of the model number you like. Most of the ones on Kogan are cheapest or close enough, but there are a few that are cheaper on eBay if you have plus, or on other random sites I've never heard of. Remember 14 day free Kogan First trial

@WasBargain: Hey, I just got my first Baby-G. Do not buy one if your wrist is larger than 7" because the straps are short. Mine barely fits, like second to last hole on the strap

                • @rosebank: Makes sense , Baby G would be aimed at girls and kids with smaller wrists

    • +2

i'm more than happy for the hypebeasts to froth over something else so the prices come down (and it's not just watches.)

personally, the 2100 is a favourite for me because i like ana-digi and the size works for my wrist. never bought one for its vague resemblance to the royal oak, a watch i don't care for at all. the 2100 in the OP is my daily wear and i'm glad it's considered too dorky, bland etc. to get compliments. i wear it for myself, not for potential thieves.

      • I didn't even see the resemblance to the royal oak, it just looked like a roundish (well, octagonal) G-Shock that wasn't massive. It wasn't until I saw the mods online that I modded one fore fun, and an all black 5600 to all metal. I still have hypebeast tendencies, but nowhere as bad as when I was younger

        • seems like anything octagonal == royal oak

  • Are the solar versions worth the price increase?

    • Not sure what you have to pay extra these days but when I bought my GA-B2100 it was $15-20 extra to have the Solar + Bluetooth version so at that difference I think it does

    • Is there a clear casioak with Bluetooth and solar?

      • +1

Nah but im not into the clear. Just a casioak in general

  • +1
    • As per above comment, this would look WICKED in the "Royal Broke" mod.. 😍

Just spent $230 on a Bulova Marine Star 96B380 yesterday but thinking of grabbing one of these too to fit into a RB mod.. Really tempted!
