Please Recommend Me a Power Bank for Travel

Hi guys
I've been recommended power banks in the past also but this time I have a few particular requirements. I have read previous forum topics on similar issues but since the past posts I'm sure a lot has changed in pricing and technology available

  • I need it for carry on travel. I guess this means, it has to be less than 100wH. Now I'm aware that in some cases it can be as much as 160wH however I have 6-8 flights across a few budget carriers and want to minimise chances of making airlines unhappy
  • largest capacity possible as I have a lot of devices to charge (but still under 100wH)
  • USB C input to fast charge the power bank, plus USB C output to charge my Samsung galaxy phone (USB C to USB C)
  • Needs at least 1 but preferably 2 USB A outputs + 1 USB C output
  • lightest weight possible/small form factor so that it's easy to carry and doesn't contribute too much to my already tiny baggage allowance

As for budget, I would like to spend as little as possible naturally, being an Ozbargainer. But I need to purchase one so I'm at the mercy of market price.

Also, separately, I'm travelling with this International plug adaptor from Amazon.

I have a handful of devices to charge:

Headphones - micro usb

*Phone - USB c

*Power bank - USB C
*Tablet - USB C
*Smart watch - proprietary Samsung

Thanks guys!

  • Represents items I would at least need to charge each night

Is there a multi device charger you recommend? For example something similar to this:

Thanks!!

I've been looking at a few for one bag travel, some suggestions below

    https://futurizta.com/products/pixy-mini-compact-power-bank
    https://packhacker.com/travel-gear/nitecore/ultra-slim-10000…

They may not be the best value powerbanks out there so YMMV

I have the 30k version of this. Still going great since 2019.

  • look for RAV power one, I'd still recommend it even though they got banned from amazon for fake reviews. (if you want lighter less weighing powerbank). Otherwise get kogan one

You can carry two smaller capacity powerbanks instead of a big one. A smaller one is also easier to carry when you're out and about.

Bring an aussie powerboard so that you only need one convertor. Something like this will fit nicely in your suitcase or backpack.

    • Thanks for the tip
Does that mean I can take 2 power banks of 100wH each if I'm flying with my wife?

      • Also, wording on scoot website says:

Each passenger can carry a maximum of two (2) spare lithium batteries of 100-160Wh into the cabin.

Does that mean each passenger can carry 2 power banks of 100wH EACH? i.e. 4 in total of 100wH each?

That's how I would read it. I always take a 20,000mah and a 10,000mah in my backpack and no-one has ever checked.

  • We spent a month traveling in Central Europe recently and my suggestion is a 10,000mAH is more practical to carry in terms of weight. We found planes and trains had power, and everywhere we stayed, of course.
That also helps with putting it in a pocket rather than a bag.
We got some Cygnett and Rosmoss ones, 6 in all, and had no issues with any.
I personally like the ones with the percent charge display, but that is just my range anxiety talking.
I had a couple of squid cables to cover the mix of apple/android and legacy devices like cameras and headphones. This was helpful if my partner wanted to charge AirPods but was busy charging their iphone etc.

  • Regarding the power bank, it depends on whether or not your devices can last the whole day without recharging, If they can last the whole day then you can just recharge overnight in your hotel room. In that case I would bring a 5,000 or 10,000mAh power bank. If you fly economy and you want to use your devices, a power bank or two is handy. Last trip, I brought 2x10,000mAh power banks and hardly used them. Next time I'll just bring a 5,000mAh one - very light and small with fast charging.
