Are You Still with BOQ after Recent Events?

I have been experiencing technical issues with BOQ frequently since I opened accounts, but I was happy to sacrifice a bit of user experience and convince for better interest rates. However, BOQ has constantly been unavailable almost every day this week, and not just the app was affected, I was even unable to use my debit card and my salary was delayed reaching my account due to BOQ technical issues. This has reached a point that is unacceptable and I wouldn't be surprised if BOQ becomes the third Optus and Medibank. Are you still going to stick with BOQ after recent incidents?

Update:

  • treat it as a term deposit?

  • Am I thinking of dumping BoQ because AussieBogan's internet has been a bit flaky recently? No.

    • Hey the comrades here will want a slownet!

    • It’s not my internet, it’s BOQ. They posted service unavailable notices on their facebook every day since ladt Saturday, sometimes more than once a day, but now they deleted thoes posts. If you didn't have any issues that means you were lucky that you coincidently didn't use BOQ services during those outages.

I signed up with BOQ in July. Gave them up in a couple of days. Summary of my experience:

After I figured that it will take a month with NO interest to generate my first interest in the second month, I decided to transfer the money back to ING. Then I realised that I was unable to transfer money out due to some glitches in the system so money got locked up!?
It took around 2-3 hours each time to reach to their technical department. After long verification process, the guy said that he did not know what's going on and he was not even from Tech but from general banking (probably due to staff shortage he got switched) and the best part, he was not even sorry.
And as you're guessing, he couldn't do anything about my situation so the money was still locked. I ended up figuring out that I was able to transfer to another investment account of mine as I did a test transfer a day earlier. Thus, I transferred the money to that account instead of ING.
It took another 3 days for the money to get back to ING due to another verification from the investment company. What an experience!
Now, even BOQ raised their interest rate to 10%, I would never come back.
You can have a look at their reviews on Product Review to see what happened to people. I read that before I opened the account to avoid those situations but no, I can't outsmart BOQ 'fancy' systems.

  • Everything has been fine for me, app logs in 5 seconds. Payments in and out work. They had planned outages a few days ago FYI. Nothing obviously wrong for me.

    • The outage was planned for Saturday only last week. After that planned upgrade, there have been unplanned outages at least once a day that affected the app, visa card and transfers till today. If you didn't have any issues that means you were lucky that you coincidently didn't use BOQ services during those outages.

  • Of course people will, Optus just had to prositute themselves to customers by advertising a saving of $1 and everyone forgave them.

  • BOQ is absolutely fine.
Every company has some technicals issues here and there.

As an adult, there are no excuses not to have a 2nd free account with a card attached to use if BOQ servers are down and card payments are affected.
It's all free - so 100$ here and there won't kill anyone.
