Best Beach Cabana Bargain

Looking to buy a cabana; good for me they seem to be on sale everywhere (or are they?). Here's what I found:
* $199 240x240cm @ CoolCabana
* $149 200x200cm @ CoolCabana
* $100 174x174cm @ Pillow Talk
* $99 173x173cm @ Anaconda
* $70 250x250cm @ Kogan
* $65 174x174cm @ Bunnings
* $60 173x173cm @ Myer
* $60 174x174cm @ Spotlight
* $55 200x200cm @ Kogan
* $55 170x170cm @ Kmart
* $49 174x174cm @ Big W

Anything else one should consider other than size and price (e.g. sturdiness; I found they all weigh around 3.5-4kg)?

    I rate the cool cabana.

    The Kmart one looks to be a decent copy of it, might be worth a go (if you can find stock)

    • Yeah, none available anywhere near me (nor online either!).

      yeah, i was given a Cool Cabana one for christmas, and its easy to put up and down and sturdy

      Like me, you left disappointed?

      Came here expecting to see a sausage

      OzBargain when they end up at a drag show

    • I’m more of a bratwurst fan myself

      • Porque no los dos?
        Time for a sausage party

  • Bunnings are getting rid of the OzTrail beach shelters for $20, similar to this.
    Personally I don't get the whole cabana craze, it's a stripey gazebo with a damned pole in the centre, how unpractical.

    • +1

      No, it's an oversized and far more wind resistant square beach umbrella (which all have a pole in the middle). It's a brilliantly simple design. Gazebos/marquees are far heavier (and yet much more vulnerable to be blown away by the wind!), and far more cumbersome to set up.

      Thanks for the tent suggestion, but that's a human oven here in Qld (and completely defeats the purpose of sitting at the beach, if one's going to be inside peeking through a small window after all).

      Looks alright if you can get it for $20

      The cool cabana is awesome as it’s easily set up by 1 person, uses sand to weigh the ‘legs’ down and , folds down very neat.

      Bit too pricey imo, but we got given ours for a Xmas present a few years back.

      I had originally though about adding an awning to my Ute but the cabana actually exceeded my expectations. Also at 2.1m, don’t really want to add any more height to my vechicle as many places only have a 2.1m limit.

      • You use it in your ute?? 😲

        • As in - I can easily unload the cabana and beach cart. If I went awning I’d prob have to remove it most of the time unless I knew I was going out to the beach.

    Don's is best…

  • Wondering what the packed up dimensions are?

    Does anyone know which one is the smallest possible when packed up? Looking to put one of these in my SeaDoo.

  • I would go for the coolcabana because of the dimensions and the mum is hot (clearly it's a warm day).

    • Definitely 1 up over the Kmart advertisement that’s for sure

    The number of these that i've seen go flying during a strong sea breeze is amazing.

    They're great for early morning but anything past 11 (which lets be honest is when you should probably have one) with a solid breeze and these go flying

    • I’ve set my cool cabana up 4 times last year on our trips to Bribie island, we drive out onto the beach, find a quiet stretch and just setup and let the kids tire themselves out. Never had issues with blow away.

      Some reviews of the others do say they are subject to blow away.. which is interesting since the design looks practically identical…

    • Just tie half a dozen house bricks to each arm of the cabana.

    I've seen cabanas where the canopy and 'legs' are stitched as one piece (like the Cool Cabana) and also cabanas where the 'legs' are attached to the canopy using velcro.

    I don't have personal experience with either but I think the one piece set up is likely to be more durable in the long run.
