Laptop Best Value WFH - Budget $2000

I have a $400 JB Gift card that I am looking to use.

I would like a laptop under $2000 purely for Office programs, email, 5-10 browser tabs open, Tidal etc. Maybe some photo editing down the track (Lightroom)

I have large hands, so a good typing experience is important.

Trying to choose between the following:

and

Any other laptop suggestion from JB Hi-Fi to be honest,

Thanks

    Why not a Macbook pro 13" M2?

  • Dell xps 13 is what I used with extra monitor.

MacBook is easily the best choice for your needs. The large glass trackpad is great for large hands.

  • I'd go with a MacBook if you don't need or strongly prefer a Windows device.

    • 13" MacBook Air M1 (with upgraded RAM)
    • 13" MacBook Air M2
    • 13" MacBook Pro M2

Unfortunately the 14" and 16" MBPs are above your budget.

    • Yeah the 14inch does look really good though…
Need to research what I’m getting extra

    • Settled on the MacBook Air M2

Should I pay the extra $400 to go to the 512gb?
I get from what I understand, faster storage and a slightly better GPU right? Sucks that it’s still 8b RAM.

Gonna go pick it up this morning, so need to decide

      • Excellent choice, Mac OS manages RAM differently to MS Windows - you'll find the base spec quite satisfactory

        • Sweet I’ll save the money then.
It’s difficult not to keep spending more and more

      • Hope you enjoy it mate

        • Got the midnight base model, very happy with it,

          Cheers!

  • The best value laptop is the one your company gives you.

    • Oh for sure, but WFH is a choice and I already have a very powerful gaming Pc at home so this is just to lounge on the couch while working and when I don’t want to sit at my main system

  • What screen size would you be after?
