Shrinkflation? Will 30L ever come back?

    • +1

Nfi, been waiting for it to come back.

    • I was last able to order the 30L 24th Nov last year so it might be a while

  • Good price - even cheaper than the generic Coles brand one for recycled paper litter. What are the benefits of using this type of litter though? (ie, we just use the clay litter @ $6.60 for 10kg)

    • +2

They last longer than the clay, for my kitties. Track less because they are bigger and don't get between their toes. The downside is harder to vacuum because they are bigger. But I have to vac all the cardboard pieces they chew off anyway, so it's not an issue anymore lol

      • Agree with that. We recently switched from clay to this kind and it lasts longer so far.

We switched because apparently clay is one of the worst kinds for both cats and the environment. It doesn't really break down and can clog up things like pipes etc.

        • I use wood litter with sieve tray. Before that I used paper litter. Wood last much longer than paper in my experience. It smells better too.

    • I'm a new cat owner, when we adopted him they had used this brand paper so we stuck with it. Quick Google has some comparisons on clay vs paper - https://www.pawmore.com/paper-vs-clay-cat-litter/

  • Supermarkets trying to sell this for $50+. Obscene times.

    • Wow that's a lot. Haven't had that. Highest I paid was around $26 at Coles to fill my Flybuys spending quota.

Petcircle has it for a decent price (30L - $21.51)

If you're stocking up, it's slightly cheaper https://www.petcircle.com.au/product/breeders-choice, 60l for $40.06 ($0.667/l) on repeat delivery. Even without free delivery it comes up to $47.01 for my address (metro Brisbane) which makes it $0.7835/l. I normally get my food and litter together for free delivery and they are frequently cheaper. Should be able to price match Petbarn too.

    • It's $49.01 for recurring incl delivery for me, not bad. I don't give them commercial food so it's really just the litter I need. Didn't realise Petbarn price matches, that'd be a trip.

You can get it for $14 a bag of you are willing to jump through a few hoops:

    1. Activate your Pet Culture offer at Woolworths Rewards to tet 4,000 points (= $20) on your first auto-delivery order - if you have ordered before like me and have used the Rewards offer previously, you can get a new Rewards Card
    2. Head to Pet Culture and link your Rewards Card - if you have an existing Pet Culture account like me, create a new account
    3. Get the 60l (which is 2 bags of 30l, currently "on sale") and select two to also get free postage and select auto-delivery to bring the price down from $47.51 (for 60l) to $38.01 or $76.02 for 4 bags of 30l (= $19 per bag)

Within a few minutes of ordering, I received my $20 worth of rewards points, which made it $14 per 30l bag.

Please take my upvote. Jumping through hoops you say, that's what Sunday avro is for!

Edit: computer says no — Standard Post $49.86 that's for two 60L. Maybe I need to move lol

      • Sorry to hear. If you have eBay plus, check out Big W's eBay store here. Although there's no 10% off, but you can combine it with giftcards, maybe even your monthly $5 eBay plus coupon (depending on the minimum spend requirement - either $15 or $50 and free delivery (plus members).
What's your remote postcode? I'll have a look for a better deal when i get a chance.

        • Hmmm I cancelled my eBay plus but it’s still active until mid feb for some reason, haven’t been using it unless I have to, feel a bit guilty.

I’m at 4551, not that remote lol But it is remote once you moved here and experienced the culture…

Tracked Perfectly! $11 a bag in the end :)

    • Perfect! thanks so much. Worked for me.

    • Thanks, you can also use code APAWLOGY for 10% off.. Theres also 25% cashback with cash rewards - although you'll probably need to pick cashback or coupon.. I prefer instant reward and less risk so went with both..

  • Petstock currently have the 30L bags on sale until tonight - $21.52.

  • We just ordered 2x30L from catch for $46 after weeks of waiting for amazon stock.
Pet circle is cheaper but $26 shipping per bag to regional kills the deal :(

    • Catch charges a hideous delivery fee as well last time I checked. We should start a regional relay community to help each other with deliveries :o

      • Signed up to the one pass for free shipping; but I agree the shipping is ridiculous.

I've been using pine pellets for the past month. Never going back to other types of litter again. There's no urine smell and it lasts longer as you don't need to change the whole tray.

    • Interesting, care to share the brand and price? Or is it a go to your local farm deal?

      • Budget Pet Products had a sale recently, but apparently it's cheaper to buy in bulk from a farm or horse supply store (it will be labelled for use with horses but is the same thing). I'll try to find a link to a really useful YouTube clip that shows how to use it if it's allowed (eg you need a sifting litter tray which is $16 from Kmart).
