Qantas: Free Extension for Travel Credits for Tickets Issued Prior to 1 Oct 2021 @ Qantas

210

Caught this on the agency page for Qantas:

"To make things as easy as possible for you and your customers, we’ve extended the travel credits commercial policy until 31 March 2023.

As part of our travel credits initiative, we simplified and relaxed fare conditions for tickets issued prior to 1 October 2021, and have extended those relaxed conditions for reissued tickets until 31 March 2023. We’re removing change fees, allowing name changes free of charge on both Australian domestic and international itineraries and we're also extending the validity of reissued tickets.

Refer to our commercial policy for full details."

ahh yes the infamous jv has returned

It's a bargain because it's a unique offer specially designed for Qantas customers.
No other airline had so many cancellation, delays and emergency landings which hand out travel credits so frequently. lol

      • because it's a unique offer specially designed for Qantas customers.

        It's not an 'offer'.
It's a change in their policy.

It literally says that in the description…

      • No other airline had so many cancellation

        What about Jetstar ?

because otherwise we lose our travel credits.

You may have $500 credit that would otherwise be lost.

The flight you want is $600.

So they're offering you a discount on your next flight, essentially. Which is, depending on your credit, a lot better than their average sales…

      • So how do I purchase this 'bargain' then?

        • Much like you don't purchase a 20% discount, you purchase the thing you want, with said offered discount. So go to your travel agent that you used, show this policy, get the credit and use said credit to purchase a new flight.

          It's not rocket science.

            @beatthatflight:

Much like you don't purchase a 20% discount

There is no discount here either.

If there is, how do people redeem this 'deal' ?

            • @jv: see above explanations.

              • @beatthatflight:

                see above explanations.

I can choose to redeem a 20% discount and save money.

How does someone redeem this 'deal' ?

      • So they're offering you a discount on your next flight,

        No they're not.

I noticed last month that Virgin have also extended their booking Trame frames until 31/12/2023 for travel bank

      Bargain !!!… Post it as a deal…

      • It's not a deal hence I didn't post anything. Just adding to this post as people wouldn't know if they didn't check

Just adding to this post as people wouldn't know if they didn't check

So it's an announcement to a policy change then, not a bargain… That's what the forums are for.

          • @jv: I never stated it was a bargain. Simply adding it on and leaving the rest to the mods

            Timeframes*

    • IN early Jan I actaully emaled virgin to extend my travel bank for another year as I was not able to find good bargains but they declined as its alraedy been extend since July 2021,
Was going to book some random flights & checked the account to find out its been extended

  • What about Jetstar?

      They cancelled again.

  • They should be refunded. Ive had 3 trips cancelled through covid related issues. Over it.

  • You need flights schedules first of all, and secondly (preferably) reasonably priced, to actually travel. Unfortunately Qantas seems to be becoming more like AusPost. They will do everything other than what they are meant to do, i.e. flights.

    • Auspost slogan used to be "We deliver!"

Qantas would love to claim "We fly!" but the ACCC would probably say that was false and misleading.

  • Just remember to not book credit flights online as you get charged more.
Do a normal search, get the price, then call up to get that price. If you click use travel bank option on the web, the fares generated are higher. This was demonstrated by the media, but nothing was ever done about it. I still have screen shots from my experience with it.
