Red Rooster Breakfast Deal Scam

I was at Sydney airport this Monday morning as I found a good deal at Red Rooster for $10.95 for a chicken roll, coffee and hash brown combo.

I went to the cashier to place the order and she advised me that they have run out of hash brown today. So I asked for an alternative then she said you can order chips separately, and I said leave it.

Then I said OK give me a combo without hash brown, so she said you don't want hash brown, which I said since you don't have I have no option. Then she said $14.95 please, I asked why I have to pay $4 extra than what is listed price. She mentioned you don't want hash brown and so this order does not become part of the deal hence I have to bill each item separately.

I ask for the supervisor and it looked like the owner came out from the back kitchen and started explaining in broken English that you don't want hash brown, you pay for each item separately.

So not sure if this scam Red Rooster is doing now at their airport franchise, sounds crazy when they remove one item from the deal and instead give a discount because they run out of stock they try to charge you extra.

Unfortunately, I cancel my order and took my business to another coffee shop.

Just thought to share my views.

    You got red rooted.

  • Use the broken English and said you need the hash brown, ask them what they can give instead for the same combo price

I would say poorly trained or a misunderstanding.

In any other takeaway place they would substitute with fries I would expect.

your mistake was going to Red Rooster in the first place.. unless you were going there to get their fried chicken

Maybe the pos system doesn’t let them process this way? Maybe they intentionally wanted to stitch you up.

Wouldn’t the logical thing be to order the meal and just forgo the HB?

Also RR for breakfast jeez idk hey , they are not exactly known for their coffee either.

doesn't everyone get fleeced at the airport?

    • Maccas rewards and daily deals worked at Brissy airport last time I went. Also Subway toasties were a cheap option.

I was at Sydney airport this Monday morning as I found a good deal at Redrooster

You went to the airport because of a deal at Red Rooster?

    • +4

Just wait until you find out he travelled from Broome that morning because of it!

    • +2

These choppers are extreme deal hunters! Also, the airport is a convenient spot to park.

    • Hahaha, it's 3am and for some reason I'm lying here cackling at your comment for the last 5 minutes 😂

    • No, I was on my way to Gold Coast on an early morning flight and want to have a quick, cheap Breakfast ( being the oz bargained) and found this deal with coffee under $11 a good deal and hence I went to RR. Not otherwise.

    Computer says no.

  • And here I am thinking Redrootroot was a front for some drug cartel or Mafia…

    • Maybe it was hash brownies the store was denying they had!

  • utter gronks, just take ur business else where

or ask for an invisible hash brown

  • Red Rooster for breakfast? 🤢

Aside from that, yeah really bad customer service from that franchise imo.

I got chicken nuggers from red rooter once and they were raw in the middle. You should have got the big brekky burger from Hungry Jacks instead, if you're gonna get fat it may as well have egg and bacon in it for breakfast.

  • do they still microwave the chicken rolls @ RR?

    • +3

No, it’s hand warmed by artisanal chicken artists… of course it’s microwaved bro 🤣

      • +1

If they are hand warmed by artisANAL chicken artists, I'm going to avoid the hot dogs.

    • I don't know for sure, but I had it the other day and it definitely tasted microwaved. They have it inside this paper bag to leave in the sogginess.

  • +1

TIL that RR did hash browns…

  • +1

Sounds like a couple of staff who don't habla

  • That is so silly.
I ate at the airport one the other day and just barf turned me off all Red Roosters. Took forever to serve 4 customers. The roll is microwaved, like seriously. Worse mash and gravy I've ever had that I wondered if it was off. And the tiniest wingette I've seen.

Honestly made me wonder how they're still in business tbh.

      The roll is microwaved

It has been ever since it started

  • id rather be hungry than eat RR

You could have worded this a bit differently or asked them a bit differently. I'm guessing even if you asked for the combo withing getting into the details of what's available and what's not they couldn't honour as they didn't have one of the items in stock? So the end result would have been the same. The way you have written or asked them sounds like you are one faulting on this deal by demanding an item that's not in stock.

    • Nah, i said give me bf without HB and he started mentioning that does not form part of the combo deal to exclude HB
