Samsung Odyssey G7 27" 1440p 240hz Curved Gaming Monitor $799 (Was $989) + Delivery ($0 WA C&C) @ PLE

80

Not a great deal especially compared to the $599 centrecom one a few months back but still a lower MSRP than other retailers still pricing this at $999.

Was looking to grab this monitor and not sure whether to pull the trigger myself.

I also noticed that Samsung have also launched a G65B priced at $949, which I am assuming is a replacement or update to this G7 1440p 240hz monitor as they have almost identical specifications, though I'm not sure if the G65B monitor actually has any meaningful improvements as there's a lack of information and independent reviews on it.

Longtime lurker but first time I'm posting a deal here :)

Retailers mark up as stocks get low in the newyear as the Chinese newyear (month long china vacation) shipping bottleneck isnt cleared until March, so FEBs a bat time to be desperate for something like monitors as they are large storage items that retailers need to stock

Whats cheap now and still dropping is memory prices! That also means SSDs and nVrme as well as DDR3/4/5 (especialy intro speeds, DDR4 2666 and DDR5 4800

I always dissagre with the newest, fasest ram over have oodles of ram! 32gb is now my base, 64gb my standard and 128gb aspirational along with the 4090Ti for now

Agree, best time to shop around would be June/July if one can wait. Many companies will struggle to meet sales budget due to inflation and we might see more deals towards the end of June.

Too damn expensive but i want it. When will they drop to $500?

    • Sure , just not sure when

    • I'm not really sure if they will for a while. Lowest I've seen was $599 but I've confirmed with Samsung that the G65B is the replacement type model for this G7 and it retails for $950 AUD so the prices aren't' really dropping for now.

      • The G6 series is starting $100 lower than the G7 did, so it will eventually run below $600 on sales.

It's also a hard ask at the current price given there's regularly QHD 240Hz deals in the range of $650-$800.

    • This model is basically discontinued, and this price is silly high considering that. You'll see $550ish or maybe lower from the G6 instead, perhaps starting from April onwards.

  • I got 27" 4k 144hz and this is much better if u looking for 4k gaming

    • Hold up, you're saying a 4K monitor is better at 4K than a non 4K monitor?

      • -2

No brainTwin, i mean 4k with 144hz is more noticeable than 240hz non 4k. Your brain cant process 240hz unless you are world champion or a kid with plenty of time for gaming

  • Yeah, not a great time to shop for monitors now. I've been looking for a 27 inch 4K or 1440p monitor only for WFH and can't find anything decent under $500. Am hoping something may pop up soon around $300 for tax retund purposes but doubt it. May have to look at some Dell refurbished monitors.

  • The G6 is basically a re-establishing of this model in the new line-up, with the G7 being taken over by entry level 4K 144Hz monitors.

They're trying to unclutter their product line, but it's a bit of a mess still right now. Not sure where their eventual 27" QHD 240Hz+ QD-OLED monitors will fall into… G8 or G7? Eh.

So…….you need a 4080 or above graphic card to pare with this. $799 is the small part, that gpu is the big one.

What? Where are you getting this info? this is a 1440p monitor, anything above 3070 or 6700XT can easily run AAAs on it. Even 3060ti's will do given that it is only slightly less powerful than a 3070. For non-gamers, any CPU with a iGPU in recent years can also run it.

      • It is a 240hz gaming monitor, 3070 6700xt will only give you around 144hz on 1440p on AAA titles, some game like cyberpunk on high settings those gpu can only give you less than 100fps. So it would be a waste if you buy this monitor and not buying a top tier gpu.

        • I mean sure… if you want to match your fps with the 240hz refresh rate on Cyberpunk, even the best card in the market cannot achieve this, at least not consistently or maxed out. See the link for a review of how RTX4090 performs on a 1440p. High refresh rate monitors are more for competitive gaming (as it gives a competitive advantage) which happens to require much less graphical processing power. LoL, Apex, Dota, and CS, to name a few, are games that can achieve high fps even on iGPUs or entry-level cards.

@RobBoss: Make sense. I don’t play many fps games, but I remember Fortnite and apex high setting under 2k can only reach 120 fps on 6700 , Cs go can go pretty high like 300, but some newer title fps will require higher end gpus

I reckon the 34" uwqhd version is a better price but as with MOST samsung curved monitors, their lack of QC is astounding!! Fair bit of light bleed from edges on a lot of reviews. The 27" version has less issues for for this price, i personally couldn't recommend it over a 34"
