I have some Lallemand Belle Saison yeast with a use by date of this month (Feb) that I need to clear - so it's reduced to almost cost price. In my experience, brewing yeast is good to use for well beyond its use by date - especially if its been stored correctly, which this has.

    That's below my cost price, and I have to charge GST. These are selling steadily so I'm not willing to lose money just yet, but I do like to have a competitive price so I've lowered the price a bit more to $4.45 inc GST, when you factor in free shipping for 7 packs of any yeast, it comes in cheaper now.

    Especially considering the other prices in that store are a fair bit higher than mine.

  Using old yeast is a recipe for disaster (likely under pitching). Do yourselves a favour and spend the extra dollar per packet for viable yeast.

    It definitely depends on how the yeast has been stored. It will have the same viability for a few months yet, and if you are still unsure you can make a starter which is easy too (some people do this anyway for every brew).

    This yeast is still within its use-by date for February.

    But you are correct that it's not much more for a longer dates packet - depends on when and how you plan to use it.

  Bit of an update, had some orders come in for the Belle Saison last night so stocks are getting pretty low now. If you want it, get it while it's there.
