Bluetooth Speaker Dock with Charger for Android Phone

I'm trying to find a product like this:

  • you leave it plugged in, it isn't just battery powered
  • it is a dock where you can plug your phone in and it charges the phone
  • it has speakers to play music from your phone

It's for a friend who likes to leave her phone on speaker playing music while she goes about daily tasks but then the phone runs out of battery. A normal portable Bluetooth speaker isn't suitable because it's just another thing that can run out of battery and it doesn't stop the phone running out of battery either.

Preferably something I can buy in a shop because her birthday is next week. I found this which is nearly right: https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/belkin-boostup-charge-10w… but I'm not certain her phone is wireless charging capable (I can try and work out what sort of phone she has tonight to find out). Plus the reviews say the sound quality is bad (more suited to taking calls over speaker phone than playing music).

I have seen some no-name stuff on Amazon but no idea if they'll be any good and questionable if I can receive it in time too.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Budget around $100 would be good but if there's something just perfect that costs more I'll definitely go for it.

Thanks guys

    • I saw that one - but it is a portable speaker. Can you leave it plugged in? A dock where the phone is propped up would be nicer, otherwise an extra-long cable sticky-taped to the shelf kind of has the same effect

  • A search for Android audio dock gets some results, but a lot seem to do wireless charging only.

    • Thanks I was searching for the word speaker, I'll see if "audio dock" has a better result

  • Does she even have a USB-C port for her phone?

    • +1

Yes her phone uses USB-C, I've seen her plug it into a USB-C cable

I can only guess that you can leave it plugged in?

But if she's relatively stationary, why not just some active BT speakers and she can just charge her phone normally?

    • That looks nice! Good price and compact too. Now just need to find out if it has wireless charging. It is a good question, maybe she just didn't think of it, but she has said a few times something like, "I wish there were some speakers that I could put my phone in so it wouldn't run out of battery when I play music on it, like those ipod docks"
