Dyson trying to take the mickey out of customers

When is a v7 a v8????

When it's called a v7Advanced!!!!
Check the specifications for yourselves. They have the same specifications and are indistinguishable apart from the "v8" being $799 and the "v7 Advanced"?? being $399.
At Bunnings currently $349:) .

How unconscionable is it for Dyson to try and hoodwink consumers like this.
If you want to buy a v8 thinking it's more powerful or longer lasting DON'T DO IT. The only difference is that the cheaper one hs no wall mount. You can get a new wall mount for $49 or on fb/gumtree market for roughly half that.

Don't boost James Dyson's already brimming bank account (24 Billion pounds currently), with an extra $400 dollars for nothing.

I truly find this behaviour without equal in the retail world for its utter contempt of the consumer.

Based on your experience you should be boycotting Dyson products all together.

        Typical Business Model.

Good Person invents good product and sets up business to sell it at a reasonable price making customers very happy, this business has establised an excellent reputation.

Years later, Big Greedy Corporation buys that business, trashes the quality of the product to increase profit, and trades off the reputation. They pay lots of money for marketing to fool customers into thinking they are geting a good deal.

        • James Dyson owns the company 100 percent. No one bought him out.
He is Mr Burns on ultra steroids

    • That will be the case going forward

    You're not a Dyson fan?

Well, they can sell what they want at whatever price. You're the one holding the money so you should always do your due diligence before spending it.

    • Do you know of any other organisation which sells two identical products albeit with different names suggesting one is better than the other when they are in fact absolutely identical?

      • All the bed companies that sell the same bed to different store with different style names so they can’t be price matched.

        • Thats to different stores, companies been doing that for millenia. Does anyone have the same product under two names next to each other on the sales floor one at twice the price??

Counter argument: their product is great (amazing vaccum cleaner) and their support is legendary. You call them with an issue and explain - within 5 mins they will send out parts and replacement items (a lot of times for free). Never a hassle, they seem to want to build a strong loyal fan base and their support and service reflects that. I wouldn’t hesitate recommending them.

    • Vacuum two 'u''s if you are happy with being robbed by them thats fine.

  • Dyson is expensive but they are very good. Hard to recommend anything else really from experience.

Support was also good in my 2x dealing with them.

But yeah, with Dyson, you have to be super meticulous about it because of the price premium.

  • Still happily using my V7 from 2018. The battery once died and was replaced under warranty (no dramas).

Based on the OP, seems I should just buy another V7 if mine ever dies.

I bought a V6 Animal like 5-7 years ago and it's still going strong under the same battery . I wouldn't expect a cheaper one to do that..

    • Dyson use generic third party cells inside their battery packs. Sometimes batteries last but usuall 2 to 3 years is norm. I had a makita with two batteries rotated them one lasted 6 years the other only two. Sometimes you can be fortunate but 2 to 3 would be your expectation.

  • v7 Advanced is so advanced that it floats by itself. Dont need a wall mount.

They've been taking the mickey out customers for years with $1000 fans. $799 for a dust buster seems cheap.

  • Why Dyson at all?
$69 Aldi, 5yr old, and no silly 'Headlights' either.

    • As much as Dyson has annoyed me I have never trusted Aldi. Wasted money on Ferrex stuff which breaks quickly and is impossible to repair as mower mechanics dont want to service them as the partsare hard to obtain. So will never buy anything other than food or christmas decors from Aldi.

The most fascinating fact, OP, is that you'll find no one is forcing you to buy something you don't want to. Shocking, I know.

  • the v8 seems to have a bunch of additional heads like hair, mattress and fabric, crevice etc…

agree v7a is a better deal but i have the v10 from years ago and i use like all the different attachments

haven’t tried other vacuums but i am interested in miele ones. anyone tried those?
