As the days went by, I noticed that my device was not charging as quickly as it used to. I checked the wall charger, but it seemed to be working fine. I tried multiple devices and cables, but the problem persisted.

One day, I decided to take a closer look at the wall charger and noticed something strange. The label on the bottom of the charger was slightly different from the one I had purchased. I soon realized that I had been sold a fake Cygnett wall charger, and it was damaging my devices.

I felt angry and cheated. I had trusted a well-known brand and still got scammed. I immediately returned to the store to confront the salesperson, but they denied any wrongdoing.

Determined to find a solution, I did some research and discovered that fake chargers are a common problem in the market. I decided to spread the word and educate others about the dangers of fake chargers and how to spot them.

In the end, I learned a valuable lesson about being cautious and vigilant when buying electronics. My mission to find a cheap and reliable wall charger may have led to an unexpected outcome, but it also led to a newfound passion for helping others avoid the same fate.

            @jargain: THEEND

          • +5

@jargain: As I continued my crusade against fake electronics, I met a young woman named Lily who shared my passion. She worked at an electronics store that specialized in authentic and high-quality products. We bonded over our love for technology and our hatred of counterfeit goods.

One day, while testing some of the latest chargers and cables, Lily accidentally dropped her phone. I rushed to her side to see if she needed any help, and that's when I noticed her phone case. It was a cute and quirky design featuring a cartoon cat.

I couldn't resist and made a comment about her phone case, and before I knew it, we were chatting and laughing about all things cute and silly. We exchanged numbers and started going on dates, exploring the city and trying new things together.

As it turned out, Lily was not only knowledgeable about technology but also an animal lover. She volunteered at a local shelter and often brought her rescued pets to the store. I was smitten by her kindness and adored spending time with her and her furry friends.

Our relationship flourished, and before long, I knew that I had found someone special. I no longer saw her just as a colleague, but as a new love interest. And just like that, my mission to find a cheap and reliable wall charger had led me to something even more valuable: a newfound love and happiness.

            • @jargain: What a twist

            • @jargain: Now that's a good talent. Excellent 10/10

            • +2

@jargain: Lily and I continued our relationship, but as time went by, I started to notice changes in her. She became distant and seemed preoccupied with something. I asked her what was wrong, but she would always brush it off and say she was fine.

One day, she finally opened up to me. Her beloved cat, the one featured on her phone case, had fallen ill and was not expected to recover. She was devastated and felt helpless. I tried to comfort her, but I could see the pain in her eyes.

Days passed, and I watched as Lily struggled to cope with her loss. She stopped coming to the store, and I couldn't help but feel that I was losing her. I didn't know how to help, and it seemed like nothing I did made a difference.

One morning, I received a call from the shelter where Lily volunteered. They told me that she had not shown up for her shift, and they were worried about her. I immediately went to her apartment and found her there, sitting in the dark with her cat lying in her lap.

I sat with her for hours, holding her as she cried and tried to come to terms with her loss. It was a difficult and emotional moment, but I was there for her, offering what little comfort I could.

In the end, Lily slowly started to heal and regain her strength, but the loss of her cat would always stay with her. Our relationship changed after that, becoming more intimate and meaningful as we supported each other through our struggles. But there would always be a tinge of sadness, a reminder of what was lost and what could have been.

              • @jargain: Lily and I continued to grow our relationship, but just as things seemed to be going smoothly, we hit a rough patch. Litly spotted a post on OzBargain about a pricing error on a product she wanted, and so quickly ordered it. Later, she was outraged that the company would not honour the mistake, and she took to social media to voice her frustration.

The post went viral, and soon, Lily was getting bombarded with messages and calls from people offering support and wanting to hear more about her situation. She was overwhelmed and didn't know how to handle the sudden attention.

In the meantime, the company that made the mistake tried to make amends by offering her a settlement, but Lily refused, determined to see the issue through to the end. She felt that it was a matter of principle and that no one should be taken advantage of.

As the situation continued to escalate, I found myself caught in the middle. I tried to support Lily and her decision, but I also felt pressure from the company, which was threatening legal action if the issue was not resolved.

Just when I thought things couldn't get any more complicated, Lily received a call from her estranged sister. She had been in a car accident and needed help. Lily was torn, she wanted to be there for her sister, but she also didn't want to leave the pricing error issue unresolved.

In the end, Lily made the difficult decision to fly to her sister's side, and I stayed behind to handle the situation with the company. I was determined to see it through, but I was also worried about the toll it was taking on our relationship.

The days that followed were filled with drama and uncertainty, but through it all, Lily and I remained by each other's side, supporting each other through the ups and downs. And in the end, we emerged stronger and more united than ever before.

                • @jargain: As Lily and I navigated the challenges brought on by the pricing error, we were hit with yet another frustration: the confusing world of USB Type-C charging cables and fast charging standards. It seemed like every time we thought we had found the perfect solution, a new issue would arise. We were constantly battling compatibility issues and trying to figure out which cables would support the fast charging speeds we needed.

To make matters worse, the new charger I had purchased was blocking the adjacent power outlet, which was causing all sorts of headaches in our daily lives. We were getting increasingly frustrated, and it felt like we were never going to be able to catch a break.

Just when we thought things couldn't get any worse, we received some good news. Lily's sister was doing much better, and she had even adopted a new kitten to help her recover from the accident. We were thrilled for her and couldn't wait to meet the new addition to her family.

However, our joy was short-lived as we soon realized that the new kitten was not compatible with our charging setup. She kept tripping the breaker, and we were forced to come up with a new solution to keep her safe and secure.

Despite all the challenges and setbacks, Lily and I remained resilient. We worked together to find a solution that would work for everyone, including the new kitten. And in the end, we emerged from the experience stronger and more united than ever before.

As for the USB Type-C charging cables and fast charging standards, we eventually found the right combination of cables and chargers that worked for our needs, and we were able to say goodbye to the frustration and confusion once and for all.

Cygnett 32W USB-C Dual Port Wall Charger (White) $18

    https://www.thegoodguyscommercial.com.au/en/b2bauonline/cygn…

  • I am in the same boat, need to find an adorable reliable charger brand to buy a few for the family, since most devices now don't come with one. However I've read some bad reviews on Cygnett, people saying they stopped working after a few weeks and such.

Really conflicted. Might just give up and buy the 40ish dollar Belkins and such. If they last 5 years, what's 20-25 dollars extra over 5 years.

    • +1

Apple 20W charger is $29. Samsung 25W is $29 (JB / OfficeWorks). So, unless you really want a USB-C charger that is coded to support a large range of devices (and you don't care much about reliability, current/voltage ripple and noise), there isn't really any need go third party.

30W chargers are a bit tricky. There aren't really that many great ones in terms of flexibility, especially on devices that need a bit more power.

On important devices, I stick with original chargers and cables. On devices which are out of warranty or el cheapo devices, I am willing to go for 3rd party chargers.

      • That's a good point, the name brand ones have to be decent. I was more interested in having dual USB ports, really helps keep the charge times down as you can charge two items at once. Definitely agree with not using 3rd party charges for Hughes high-end devices, but I think brands like Belkin are up there. The Dual port Belkin is about 29 at JB. Might just grab them.

Currently sitting in the Telstra store going through the most PITA process to return my Cygnett 45w PowerPlus as it started burning up while not working. Have seen others say the same so be wary of their products.

  • “I was in desperate need of a wall charger after yet another USB-C device arrived without one.” …one solution would be stop buying single outlet wall chargers like this one and get a decent multi port

    • Problem is, there are fewer decent multi port chargers. While we all feel multi port chargers are a great idea, if you really think about it, how realistic is it to expect multi port chargers to be good quality? A lot of them use single chipset solution and slack off on safety features. You really expect the circuit designer to spend extra effort on multi ports?

Apple and Samsung chargers don't play nice with each other (probably intentional). You will also find that a lot of Apple and Samsung devices charge differently when using original vs 3rd party chargers.
