Best Recipe App?

I am looking for the Best Recipe App. Currently I am using a mix of Bookmarks / Email / Word/ Google Keep it is time to step up my recipe tracking.
.
Wish list:

Android app + Mac App (or through browser)
Import recipes from websites / only the recipe not the story
    Simple categorisation
Scales recipes and converts from imperial to metric (it would great if it could standardise between Australian and US cups)
Ability to add my own recipe (copy and paste not in a standard format)
Recipe scan (from cookbook etc. I could use lens but would be nice if incorporated)
Ability to export so I could create a PDF or cookbook
    Potentially a star rating ?

I know this is a tenuous tie-in for a bargain community but if anyone knows how to get a discount. Happy to pay for something great but prefer a single payment.

So what do you use?

I just google recipes because I love reading about the creators life story, scrolling through 50 ads and finally finding the recipe and instructions after 6 minutes.

Then I remember that I don't actually need a recipe for baked beans on toast.

    Try it some time.

    • Lol. Nothing beats a verbose recipe with a side of ads and a gentle dusting of pop up ads

      • The algorithm doesn't lie. Google knows how far people scroll so they know people are reading those stupid stories.

    • But did you find the recipe for smashed avo on toast? Amazing!

OP I also just google them. If you want pretty failsafe recipes and all the instructions in the world on how to cook them / substitute ingredients go to recipetineats. It’s a great site, especially if you have just started cooking

  • Paprika is fantastic

    • They only do a sale on Black Friday every year

      • Full price $47 for the Mac app

        • Yeah, the desktop price is ridiculous. The iOS and Android app are only $7 ($4.50 on BF deal) which is actually good value for what it is.

  • Whisky and Recipe Keeper have nicer interfaces

  • I have been trialing the Paprika 3 phone app it is great. Does anyone use the computer app as well? is it worth the $$$?

    • It's much the same but easier to use if inputting lots of recipes and wanting to use a bigger screen. I think it's worth it if 50% off on black friday

    • I use the desktop app a lot. Bought it a while ago during one of the black friday sales. A lot easier and quicker to edit on the desktop than a phone, which can be good when cleaning up US recipes (converting oz to g and °F to °C).

      • Is there a way to automate those changes?

        • I just tested it and there is a built-in unit converter.

It translated "1½ pounds" to "680 grams" so that was smart, understanding the fraction symbols. But, it also converted "1 teaspoon" to "2.46 millilitres" which was not smart. My guess is that works for Europe where they use metric and don't really use volumetric cups the way we do (and our cups are not imperial cups so that confuses everything anyway).

It didn't do anything to °F.

I got into the habit of converting the units as I use a recipe so have only done it by hand, and I like to convert all fluids to g anyway, which an automated process can't do for me. (If it's going into a bowl it's easier to just do it all on a scale than to fuss with cups.)

          • @stjep: Thanks I prefer to use g. The different cup sizes is the one that bugs me the most
