Advice on M-ATX AM4 Mainboard for use with Ryzen 5600X for non-Gaming Work

First post here.

I have a Ryzen 5600X CPU and M-ATX case, so looking for suggestions on a reasonably priced motherboard. Not looking for a gaming setup, more used for 3D design and video editing work.

Open to suggestions on motherboard model and best chipset. Preference for a mainboard that supports Pcie 4 M.2 SSD, and I dont need WiFi.

Thanks, Mark

If you need pcie 4.0 then you have to go with B550 range.

If you don't care about audio then GB B550M DS3H non wifi available or MSI B550M pro vdh wifi only.

Otherwise, GB B550M aorus pro (my current board)

Non of these board will limit the 5600x.

    • Thank you, have been looking at the GB B550M Aorus Pro, just need to find it at the right price. Appreciate your advice.

    • I got my B550M DS3H during Black Friday for $140, I can't say I recommend it at the full price of $180-190 its selling for at major vendors when the Asrock Steel Legend is $200 with a better feature set and top tier VRMS

From a thermal management point of view for maximum durability at a reasonable price, currently there is only the B550M Aorus Pro, or the B550M Pro-VDH Wifi, or if you are ok with USA warranty then you can get the MSI B550M-VC Wifi (Pro-VDH refresh model) off Amazon AU.

  • There's been a shortage of stock of the good AM4 boards since Black Friday, and most retailers are indicating Feburary/March for certain stuffs to come back in stock, while other highly regarded models are just sold out and EoL.

ASRock B550 Pro4 or B550 Steel Legend (mATX version) are probably your best bet. X570 boards are all ATX minus 2 models, so for mATX + PCIe 4 you're limit to B550, which has 1 PCIe 4 NVME slot.
