This isn't a great competition. If you happen to be randomly selected and "win" from among all the participants, you still only have something like a 0.5% chance of actually getting the Apartment and about a 5% chance of getting $20k. Otherwise, the prize is basically $10k. Unless I missed it in the T & Cs, when eventually no one wins, they just keep the apartment and I assume sell it as normal. Seems like that is the intention of the competition. Still technically worth entering but just ignore the $1M and assume it's a $10k prize.

Don't know about you but to me 10k is a great prize!! Anything else would just be a bonus on top if you did get lucky!!

      • +1

yes its great! and they should of said its 10k and not 1 mil!

All comps like this market the big prizes even radio stations…they dont hide the fact it comes down to envelope selection on the day.

    • Good advice. I would feel so nervous selecting the envelopes too, unless totally focused on the idea that I am much more likely to get only $10k (not that it's a small amount to me, just comparatively that an apartment worth of money would massively change my life).

It's worse than that…. 2/20 of picking the first envelope then 1 /19 of getting the second one = 2/380 = 1/190 = 0.53%. I mean it's better odds than winning the lottery (for the drawn participant) and a free trip (for those outside NSW and IF it happens) but there is a guaranteed $10k or about 19% chance of scoring the $20k.

      …or 0% if you don't enter…

      Statistics are fun.

      • To fairly compare it to chance of winning lottery, isnt it need to multiplied by the the chance being seleceted as the participant to pick the envelopes?

How can they possibly get a permit for such a dodgy competition????? I've never read such appalling terms & conditions 🤔🤔🤔
I mean they're holding a carrot worth over $1m…… But they don't actually HAVE to give it away. Sure you MIGHT win $10k or $20k…..but the major prize isn't 100% available to all who enter!!!
    Is it worth entering? Maybe…..
But don't expect to come away with a new home.🤦🤦

    • Radio stations do these kind of comps all the time normally for 20 or 50k or other outlandish totals…runners up envelopes for 1-5k, seriously this kind of comp is nothing new

      • doesn't make is any less sh*t, it's just about false advertising. You don't win just by being picked, you have to then play a rigged game. i'll bet my left one this doesn't go off, yet for months on end they will talk about how they are giving away a million dollar apartment, yet they absolutely aren't.

example: It's not "for your chance to win…", it's "for your chance for your chance to win"

Just value my personal details enough to deem this; ‘competition’ to be in a ‘competition’, with a chance of actually winning the home 1 in 9900 if you do actually get drawn. . (Feel free to comment on the correct probability, it may distract you enough to not to fall for this grab of private details at no real cost.

Speculating 200,000 entries, one entry will give you fractional chance of
    one billion, nine hundred millionth

It’s in my opinion if not deceptive, an outright
insincere gesture to offer a chance at a chance….with no real likely prospect of anyone winning the ‘Home’.

  • I've had so many spam phone calls since entering my details into this. Coincidence?

    • always use a burner number & email for these comps

      • How do you get a burner mobile number? Email is easy enough, but phone number? Just the cheapest pre-paid POS?? Out of interest, which one?

  • another claytons competition
