I picked up my copy of Hogwarts Legacy Deluxe PS5 edition morning from EbGames.
I usually buy most games from there cause they always price match. But they figured a way around it for this new game. They refused to price match with any retailer unless it has the ‘EB Exclusive Hogwarts Crest Key Chain’ sticker on the packaging.
Which obviously other retailers can’t have.
So heads up anyone wanting to price match, or hopefully you get a clueless staff member :)

They did the same for me and God of War Ragnarok. It's a shame as I'd much rather buy games through them than other places, but they are often so much more expensive.

I pre-ordered in October and it still says the release date is the 10th and it'll arrive between the 13th and 14th.
Tempted to just cancel and pay the $10 extra to get it in store somewhere.
Only the Deluxe edition released today. Standard edition will indeed be released on Friday.
JB Hi Fi pulled the same stunt on me when trying to price match to Amazon/Harvey Norman. Very annoying - though thankfully it's only $99 at JB, not $119 like EB.
Makes sense. Licensing those keychains can't have been cheap. And it could have been the reason why you chose EB instead of just getting it from Amazon or wherever.
Honestly, when I pre-ordered it there was no mention of having any bonus items with it. That’s been a recent addition.
Either way, I would have paid whatever they wanted, i’m already 3 hours into game play, it’s pretty awesome so far.
Considering that Hogwarts Legacy Deluxe Edition (PS5) is not available physically at any retailers (that I can find), you wouldn't be getting it matched anyway.
I had to pay the extra $30 for digital because there were none at JB, EB, HN, or Big W.
They all sold out quick when was reduced to $88. The extra items aren't even worth it but you can also just upgrade normal to deluxe version.

Very likely that their 'EB exclusive' is a means to avoid price matching as… well… it's not the exact same product.
As an aside, the few times I've been in-store at EB, I often see parents just walking in any buying 'X Y and Z' because my kid wants it without even consideration of the price or that it may be cheaper elsewhere. As such, I suspect they don't need to worry about the few that may come in and argue that it's the same-same game for a price match.
Yeah it must be a big part of their business model, considering how much more expensive their games are compared to other stores.

EB Games has always refused to price-match games with pre-order bonus (unless you forfeit the bonus; if possible).
