Help with Discord Entries Using Gleam

Hi OzB community,

I have always had issues gaining entries from Discord channels using Gleam.

I click into the link, and accept the invite and follow the channel etc, but Gleam doesn't recognise this and therefore I don't receive any competition entries for this.

Can someone please explain what I am doing wrong?

Thank you :)

Benny

  • Sometimes you have to complete a captcha before actually joining the server.

Do you possibly have multiple Discord accounts? Are you sure you've linked the the right Discord account to Gleam?

I had a similar problem with Twitch but then I found that I had accidentally created 2 Twitch accounts a few years inbetween each other and I had connected the wrong one to Gleam.

    • Thanks Crispy for the suggestions.

So I only have 1 Discord account and its all linked to the same email.

I am connected to Gleam using my Twitter account.

Do I need to link my Discord with Twitter? If so do you know how to do this?

      • Maybe if you log out of Gleam (if you go to any Gleam comp there's a 'Log Out' button just above the entry methods) and then try logging thru/in Discord. Give that a go?

        • +1

Yep will give it a go, thank you :)

  • Most Gleam competitions are fake just to get you to click, like, subscribe whatever. Bear that in mind and avoid providing personal information as some data harvest too. There's no actual prize given.

Some exceptions apply like major companies but random streamers and whatever is all fake.

    • Really does depend, it's a case to case scenario; my brother won a Logitech gaming mouse from a small Aussie Twitch streamer who did a giveaway based on Twitter (follow/like/retweet), and yes, he did actually receive the prize. The streamer even asked if my brother could post a picture of the mouse when he received it so people knew that it wasn't a fake giveaway. I've won quite a few things myself from small businesses promoting their products; they're not all fake.

Of course, yes, there are going to be lots of fake comps and the easiest way to avoid them is just a quick background check, they're not hard to spot.

  • Check if you've joined the limit amount of servers (100 I think), iirc it won't say if your account has reached the maximum

    • I have about 10 servers so I don't think that is the issue. I might try removing a couple as I don't use all of them

  • Go to your Account settings and discord then go to authorised applications and remove Gleam and then reconnected to discord.

    • I have removed Gleam in Discord, do you know how I reconnect it though? I can't see that option sorry

      • Should give you the option to reconnect next time you complete that task on a competition.
