Washing machine deal or online store?

My washing machine just died. So i am starting to search for a washing machine deal. I know i just missed the good guys 20% off white goods deal this weekend at the Oxley store :( Any good deal at the moment? Or is there any reliable online store with good price on washing machines?

I prefer a brand like Fisher & Paykel, Whirlpool, electrolux, either top load or front load, and a 5.5 kg one would be fine.

Thanks in advance!

  • I've bought stuff from appliancesonline.com.au and I'm happy with them. But there are lots of online retailers, just do a search. Remember to include the delivery cost in your comparison, and also any cost of disposing of the old one.

  • My son has been procrastinating on a similar purchase for the past two months, and wm deals have been on almost every week. So you should have too much trouble in finding a deal this weekend. $450-500 seems to be the norm for a Samsung/FP Top loader, 5.5kg and higher.

  • Have been happy with appliancesonline.com.au as well. FP Top Loader 5.5kg for $497 (supposedly 23% off RRP) includes free delivery to Oxley QLD (took a guess at the state), removal of disconnected washer and connection of new one.

  • Just make sure that your washing machine has four things:
    1. Timer/delay function - so that you can take advantage of off-peak rates (you will eventually get a smart meter).
    2. Cold and hot water input - warm washes are most effective but you want a washer that will take your hot water as gas hot water is more efficient and solar hot water even more so.
    3. Front loading - top loaders are a false economy - they use more water, detergent and energy and are not as good to your clothes.
    4. Water and power efficiency - enough said.

I'd go with Asko if I could afford it but Bosch are also very efficient washing machines. Don't know too much about other brands.

  • I was looking for an 8kg washing machine not to long ago. I shopped around and got the best price from harvey norman and others and went to Clive Anthonys last. They smashed the best price. Its advertised at $1036 at the moment (was more at the time.), i got it for $950 included delivery and taking my old machine.

It might not sound like a lot but delivery is about $50 and taking the old machine was $30 or something so it adds up. Its a great washing machine but probably a bit to big for what your after. Sorry i couldn't be of more help, but if they have your model be sure to check em out!
