  • Tempted but that's pricey for what you get. I wonder if it will sell out…

    • +4

The base game is $79 (and $10 cheaper than EB), and I don't see Nintendo discounting this until the heat death of the universe. Or at least 2-3 years.

      • +2

They apparently bumped up the price in the States to 70 USD (previously 60).
Im surprised we're not getting charged even more than that! Cant imagine a price drop for a long while now

      • +1

        $75 at Amazon AU

  • already purchased on EB for the stash…

  • +4

Ok it looks like you can buy the amiibo separately so this is essentially buying the pin, steel case and art book for $89.

    • +3

Collector's edition doesn't come with the Amiibo.

So the SteelBook, Steel Poster, Pin Set (Includes four pins) & Artbook is costing you $110+.

      • -1

Once sold out, it will give you $110+

        • +3

Hopefully Nintendo churn these out by the tens of thousands and saturate the market so scalpers can eat doodoo.

        • Will it though? I'm a Zelda fan and this 'collectors' edition sucks for $189. Wouldn't be upset to miss it at RRP can't see it going crazy in price.

    • Lol

    • Amiibo? There already is NFC/BT token which provides all amiibos. cost like 25 bucks. Best part is it keep updating new ones into it.

      • +2

        Doesn't look like link though.
I agree NFC tags for basic boring stuff but some poeple love to have a link figure on the shelf…my son will.

      • What do you mean? Is there a link to somewhere I can read more about this?

        • Google NTAG215

  • How easy is it to cancel a pre-order? Looks like you have to pay the full price up front!

    • Dunno, but EBs is a $50 deposit rather than the full amount.

  • +2

Usually I'm 100% no to pre-orders but there are some IP's that I trust and Zelda is one of them. That said, $190 for a basic CE is a joke, similar to the asking price for the AC: Mirage collectors edition ($230?). Usually I buy CE's but this year I'm on a CE strike in protest of these ones that are $50+ more than they should be.

I'm sure they'll sell out regardless. Guess I'm priced out of the CE market. I'll take my $69-79 day one edition.

    Tears of the wallet.

  • I checked the trailer and it looked very similar to previous game

    • Thats not necessarily a bad thing, seeing as how good the previous game was. I imagine it will be an expansion / evolution of the previous world. Hope they make the world map even bigger than before

  • +4

excuse my ignorance, but is this paying $100+ for a box and pins and poster and a book?
the base game is $75 right?

    • Yep youre right - welcome to collector editions

    • +1

Also a steelbook. Still doesn't seem like great value. As a Zelda fan I'd rather buy a Displate if I wanted a metal poster, and there are some really nice fan-made pins on etsy.

If you bought this and resold it I'd say you're guaranteed to make a profit.

      • +2

I already feel like an idiot for buying this for $190, how much of an idiot must someone be to buy this at a scalped price?

    • They're setting the RRP at $89.95, but JB and Amazon are selling for less.

  • +3

for $100 over base game I would expect much more than a metal box and some pathetic prints… at least an amiibo or DLC…. This looks rather bad after the shocking financial report from Nintendo..

    • Yeah, it's shocking value, but let's be honest here it's still going to sell out because Zelda. Same with their limited edition console that'll probably be priced exorbitantly too.

    • +4

      They always do this.

You used to get sound track cds, thick art books, statues etc.

Now you get a steel case, thin book and a post card.

  • Alot of junk

When has a Collector's Edition ever been good value? They're mostly just trinkets and junk.

      • That’s not a collector’s edition, but I’m not saying that games aren’t collectable, they definitely have the opportunity to go up in value (anyone wanted to buy my VGC Conker’s Bad Fur Day? Haha).

The game it comes with is more important than the actual extras. This will be way more valuable than any of the Far Cry CE’s with their fancy statuettes.

  • +1

Collector's edition just went live on Amazon in case anyone's interested:
    https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0BV9WJ485/

At least with Amazon there's no money down until it's shipped in case anyone's on the fence.

  • I notice this still hasn't sold out yet in other regions of the world apparently it sold out within a hour…. wonder why that is? Australians more careful with their money? More supply here than demand?

  • Only the standard copies are receiving a the 'Pre-Order Bonus' - The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom 40mm Metal Coin

      Junk
