Asurion Taking Payment on Tradein?

So have traded my phone in for new s23u through Samsung. Did this last week. Asurion put a hold on the trade-in amount on my CC. This was expected. Now, checking my statement, Asurion has taken payment for the trade-in amount. Is this how it is meant to happen and they then issue a refund when they receive my old phone? Not sure why they have taken payment when a hold would have been enough. I last used Samsung trade in a couple of years ago and they didn't even put a hold on the funds.

It's likely they'll return it, but you should check your email to make sure that they've haven't falsely accused you of not returning your device. I had to file a CC chargeback with my bank and cancel the credit card, as that was the case.

Keep your Australia post receipts and tracking number as evidence that you shipped the phone to them.

    • What a shifty company. Of course I haven't sent my phone back to them. I haven't got the new one yet, it doesn't ship until next week. And they haven't even sent me the shipping details to send out the new one. Their customer service is next to useless.

      • Some users reported ASURION asking for your device… one year after they've gotten their new phone.

If you do not get your eParcel or printable tracking label shortly after your S23 arrives, It's a good idea to chase it up and ask for their returns paid Eparcel, to make sure they haven't forgotten about you.

        • I'm talking with Samsung now. It's been escalated by them and they are actually taking care of it. I think. I'll never get these past 2 hours back though.

Samsung definitely needs to partner with someone else. Asurion are pos

    • The way the Samsung rep was talking on the phone just now sounded like his whole day had been dealing with asurion complaints.

  • Asurion stole $2 from me because they thought i had "used" my trade in id for a cracked s21, when I just put the id in the site and didn't complete check out.

  • I sent in my tradein earbuds pretty much straight after reciving the label via email and auspost tracking shows its delivered then i got an email from Asurion saying they havnt recieved it and may charge me if they dont receive it in 7 days

Yep. Got that email today. Tracking shows they have received the phone. Absolutely useless company.

      • Now i wonder if its even worth sending in my phone when the time comes. The s23 is still showing as "on the way" and tracking doesnt work either

  • Use one time card. No way they can charge you.

    • you're new to the game, they take your money now and will return later if they feel like it. If the card has insufficient fund they won't spit out the trade-in coupon for you.

      • Nope. I did it before. Temporary charge of $1 and then refunded. They tried to charge the actual amount but couldn’t as it’s past 24 hours.

  • They did two temporary $1 charges on my account. Then refunded only $1.

I have now received two emails from Asurion saying they have not received my tradein, however, AusPost tracking says they received it on the 27th September.

The email states I have until the 4th October to send the tradein or be charged. So frustrating :0(
