Argentina & India YouTube, Tidal etc. SUBS Payments Are Not Going through

Hi everyone,

I suspect my bank (ANZ) is behind my payments not going through for my YouTube, Tidal and other services as it seems a bit far-fetched that all these services have just figured out simultaneously that I'm not paying the Aussie rate for these services.

Is anyone having the same experience or knows something about it that I don't?

Any help, would be greatly appreciated.

  • use another bank that doesn't charge you FX fee

    • Would NAB work?

  • My India youtube took 4 days to go through this month. I was starting to fret

  • I use 28 degrees card for Youtube India. Works fine, for now.

Just got this from YouTube as I use Argentina:

Due to a recent change in Visa's processing policies in Argentina, payments may be declined if your card was not issued by an Argentine Bank. If you use an international Visa credit card or debit card, payments may fail and your subscription may be suspended.

To avoid a disruption in your membership and other purchases, please add an Argentinian-issued credit card to your payment methods as a primary or as a backup payment method.

i just got this email too - is this the end of Argentina YT?

      • I also got this message. I’m assuming MasterCard or Amex would work?

    • I received this email also, Visa was my primary card and after the email I added a CBA M/C as backup. My payment went through last nite (pending) on the M/C and on checking my Youtube Account payment details the Visa card had been removed.
Let's see how the M/C goes moving forward…

  • Indeed. Would this mean purchasing google play gift cards in Argentina and using this method moving forward?

Any other work arounds or suggestions?

    • Since it says Visa, I am assuming MasterCard and Amex would work.

My MC payment went through this morning.

Cool thanks for confirming. If people don't have Mastercard either use revolut (but they are one time virtual once) or buy from card.gift
I don't have one so I will probably just buy from card.gift once my payment goes through.

          • @fozzie: Yup, that's what I'm using - Revolut MC.

            • @KangaDrew: Is that a permanent one? I had a virtual long term one but they got rid of it.

@fozzie: Actually, I tell a lie, sorry! I just checked my account and I'm actually using my Macquarie Bank MC, not the Revolut. Revolut I use for Apple GC's via Turkey.

@KangaDrew: Ok, no worries. I think for now I might just use the virtual one time and/or gift cards. I will sort out some mastercard credit card at some stage. Thanks for replying

  • I'm so glad I'm not the only one this is happening to. I've changed all my subs to India in the hope that this doesn't happen again.

$22 for a year's supply of YT Premium is not bad, but my people are gonna be pissed that my family ACC in Argentina will elapse.

    • I changed to India and bought a year

      • Can you walk me through those steps? Did you have to create a new account?

I got the same email from YT. Have added a Mastercard as a backup. Will see if that keeps them happy i guess.

    • Adding a mastercard to the backup payment method works. YT premium london charged the ars699 payment straight away.

      • Did you connect via VPN before adding the backup payment method?

        • +1

I didn't worry about the VPN, i think that is only if you are changing billing address's

        • +1

          Yes

They will be happy until next month when the email says non Argentinian Mastercards are no longer accepted either!
I'm not convinced this is a VISA initiated change, more like YT cracking down possibly.

  • I switched to Youtube Turkey and used Google Pay

  • I received an email in October and December about pricing going up:

To continue delivering great service and features, we will be increasing your Premium price from ARS 119.00/month to ARS 389.00/month.

No emails to state that there'd be an issue with payments though. I'm using Mastercard and my last payment just went through this morning FWIW.

  • Looks like my Tidal Argentina subscription failed to renew and all Visa and Mastercards that I've tried on that account with and without VPN all fail.
"Your transaction could not be completed. This could be due to incorrect credit card details, an expired credit card, or restrictions from your bank, Ples try again or use a different credit card."
That's the error I get on all of them. I think they've just marked my account so I can't renew.

    • Wow, try Amex if you have one.

Deano! I had this exact same problem with Tidal. Argentina is just not allowing the payment for any service in Argentina from any non-Argentinian bank or card.

      It's really annoying, I know.

I feel I should update that I have given up Tidal as I didn't really use it compared to YT Music and I changed to YT India and did the Premium for 12 months for roughly ~$24.

Argentina is officially closed for business.

  • Disappointed that this happened, had a good run with the Argentine method until now.. can't be bothered anymore trying to find alternatives, I downloaded SmartNextTube, just going to use that from now, it's working very well.

  • What's the next best country for Tidal after Argentina? Is there any way to get cheap Qobuz or anyone else with good quality? This might be a good time to switch.

I have updated my AR Tidal to my Mastercard, no issues with billing so far on that.

      • Can also confirm, Citi Mastercard works. It failed to go through the first couple of times, then I got an SMS for fraud detection, so I approved it and tried again and it finally went through.

  • my youtube premium stopped aswell managed to start it again on student account via different card

  • Does anyone else have an issue with the purchase pages not loading? Using a VPN connected to turkey, I can get to the page showing me the option for $29.99TRY but once I click the button to 'Learn More' the page doesn't load. I've tried several devices and browsers with the same result.
