Gaming Laptop Recommendations - Budget $2,000

Thinking about getting a gaming laptop. Any decent recommendations at the moment?

Under $2k is my budget. So many things going but I'm not really sure about value.. pros/cons of the machines..

Is something like this any good? What would you pay for this?

There seemed to be something slightly lesser than it quite popular not long ago.

Would a tablet for gaming be a good idea at all?

    tablet

    No

I also strongly suggest buying a good cooling pad for it too, my metabox developed keyboard issues from the heat produced by it haha good times

If I'm not mistaken (anyone correct me if I'm wrong) but the Nitro 5 is meant to be at the lower end of gaming laptops, it's built cheaply; weaker specc-ed variants using the same chassis can be found for below $1,000

Also overheating is a common problem with it

Aim for something better at this price.

    • Yeah i dont know much on them, im just going based off some of the things i have seen on ozb

Check out Asus Zephyrus G15, if you can find one for $2K. It's one of the slimmest and lightest gaming laptops, has a pretty good cooling system, 240Hz screen.
Cons: the battery life is quite poor and they have some quality issues. I had to replace LCD panel on mine after almost two years, luckily it was still under warranty.

    • Aren't you paying a premium for the "SLIM" gaming laptop though?

      • Yeah, but I don't like bulky laptops.

OP be aware that the CHEAP gaming laptops won't last as long, high temps are normally a problem and eletronics hate excess heat, it will kill them quicker. Acer Nitro is bottom of the barrel with poor QC.

    • Anything under 2k is cheap? Should I just not bother?

  • Lenovo Legion Pro16. Great chassis, screen, few cpu / gpu options. 3060’s have been down 1700 ish from mem
